Apple Music gets updated with new social features, adds Google Assistant support on Android

A new update for Apple Music is rolling out across the iOS, Android, and desktop versions of the music streaming service. The main new feature in this update are "social profiles," which allow users to share what they are listening to with friends.

As for Android users, the latest update for Apple Music brings a couple of nice surprises. The Android version of the app now sports a new home screen widget, while users running Android 7.1.1 Nougat and up will be pleased to hear that that support for shortcuts has been added, meaning that long-pressing the Apple Music icon will now yield a menu with shortcuts for quickly accessing a handful of the app's most used features. Other than that, Apple has also added support for the "OK Google" voice command, allowing users to request songs through Google Assistant.
