Another day, another #YoForMoto fail

Another day, another #YoForMoto fail
As the saying goes, insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results. Yesterday, Motorola ran a promotion through Yo to give away twenty Moto 360 smartwatches. The giveaway had troubles with many more than twenty people reportedly receiving a message that they had won, only to be disappointed. In an effort to make amends, Motorola decided to run the promotion again today.

Unfortunately, the promotion seems to have failed again. Users on Twitter have been reporting a number of problems, including the same issue as yesterday. Others say they never received the Yo message from Motorola, or that the Yo didn't hit their devices until a few minutes after 11AM CT, meaning that they had absolutely no chance of winning the contest.

No word from Motorola about the contest, nor from Yo, but there appears to be less attention being paid to today's promotion. We wouldn't expect Motorola to try the same promotion again though, even with more troubles today. Anyone out there win a Moto 360?

I am glad all these dumb contests are failing. There must be a higher power at work. Or perhaps it is just the collective unconscious of all of us who are f**king sick of gimmicks.

Because as long as you win, you don't care if the contest worked right for everyone else.

Contests that give you an invite to buy a phone, and that contest is the only means of being able to get the phone, those contests are stupid. Contests that just give you the device for free are not stupid IMO...

I'd say the promotion was a runaway success! Everyone seems to be tweeting about the giveaway and the Moto 360 as a result! All publicity is good publicity!

Yeah, but it still doesn't change the fact that I don't have one. :-(

If it fails one way, why use it again? Why not just use Google+ or Facebook or even Twitter?

Because you could run into the same or different problems switching to another platform with so little time. Staying with the same platform and correcting the mistakes would normally be the better solution. The problem here is, the Yo app sucked to begin with, and I'd imagine that the reason went with Yo was that they compensated Motorola for using their app to promote this, which Motorola wouldn't get using one of the other platforms you mentioned. Even if it had been a runaway success, you'd probably be bitching that they're only giving 20 away. If you'd at least give them credit when they do right, it wouldn't be so bad. But all you do is ignore when they do right, and pounce when they do wrong. They could cure cancer and you'd bitch about why it took them so long.

So tell me what they did right here. It's the same thing as was yesterday. Don't jump my case because they messed up again. You're the only one who's throwing a fit. Get over it. They messed up. They pulled the same stunt with the promo codes several months back.

I didn't say they did anything right here. What I'm saying is when they have done something right in the past, you bash it anyway, and if proven wrong, don't own up to it. Reading comprehension, do you have it? I'm not throwing a fit about them, I'd just like to open an article on Motorola and not see you in there every f#%&ing time bitching about them. You don't like them fine, move on. But it's like your stalking them. I had bad experiences with Apple, but I don't go into every article whining like a stuck pig about it. See the difference?

Notice what isn't mentioned is that they can't even get the time of the contest right. Official rules stated 12CT, not 12ET.
