Alleged HTC Desire 8 phablet leaks out with 5.5" display and 13 MP camera

A new upcoming member of the HTC Desire family has leaked out, in line with the company's promise to start producing more models in all price ranges and screen diagonals.

The handset is listed as Desire 8, though we'd assume the final tag might be Desire 800, given HTC's naming scheme so far. It is apparently positioned higher in the food chain than the Desire 700 we reviewed recently, as it is said to sport a larger, 5.5" display of yet unknown resolution. This will position it somewhere between the upcoming 5" HTC M8 aka One 2, and the 6" One max

A 13 MP camera is said to adorn the rear, and this one is unlikely to be of the infamous UltraPixel variety, while a wide-angle 5 MP shooter is destined for the front. The what looks like a polycarbonate body will be available in white, red, yellow, orange and cyan, and HTC's signature dual stereo speaker setup can be seen at the front. The rest of the specs are largely non-existent at this point, but we are certain more will leak out before the Desire 8(00) hits the shelves. What do you think, does this one fit nicely into HTC's new strategy?

Wow this is a mid range device, if that last htc m8 leak is true, I actually prefer the design of this to the m8! Anyone else notice that there were no capacitative buttons shown. So on screen even with that space for the logo?

when the actual phablet will launch it would be far different from this.

True that. But fear it is already too late for HTC to survive as a company. They experience losses year over year. How should that company stand a chance against Samsung, Sony, LG or the new chinese competitors?

Yes, HTC can survive, same as BlackBerry because there's still a chance for them. All they should do is don't give up and move on, they should go full throttle this year to hope for the best.

Looks good but i dont think its legit and probably htc would opt for mediatek soc's for desire series in future like sony adoption of xperia c..
