16MP rear-facing camera confirmed for Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+

16MP rear-facing camera confirmed for Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+
A listing on Indian import-export site Zauba confirms that the rear-facing camera on the unannounced Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ will be 16MP. Zauba shows that a 16MP camera with a 1/2.6″ sensor was shipped into India from China. The post shows that the camera is set to be used on model number SM-G928, which is expected to be the Galaxy S6 edge+. Samsung imported 500 units of the camera into India. Each unit was valued at the equivalent of $19 USD.

The camera module appears to be the same one that is currently employed on the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge. If so, that would mean OIS will be one of the features on the new device. Other rumored specs include a 5.7-inch 1440 x 2560 QHD screen, an Exynos 7420 SoC under the hood, and 4GB of RAM inside.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ and the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 should both see the light of day during Sammy's next Unpacked event. That will take place on August 13th in New York City, which means we have plenty of time for more leaks to appear for both models. Feel free to check in often for the latest news and rumors on these two eagerly awaited handsets.

Suddenly, there are so many really awesome 5.5-5.7" devices. Good times for consumers who want them.

S6 edge plus would cost around $800, it will offer more (OIS, Samsung pay, wirless charging, better SOC) than $400 worth moto x but not worth the difference. Also it might face hard time with note 5 too. Samsung used this camera sensor in note 4, S6 and S6 edge, I think they should have gone for something better this year. IMX230 (used in moto x style) sounded promising (I have been following news about it since November), with Samsung's optimization it would have been a camera to beat.

Here's the problem with the 2015 Moto X. 1. Most people don't have $400 to put down on a phone upfront. They rather do no money down on a plan like Edge and get a more expensive phone and receive a $25 discount on the line charge. 2. If you're on Verizon buying the Moto x outright it does not guarantee that you will get the $25 month to month discount if you're on the more is everything plan. You could end up paying $600 more on a 2 year deal because the phone is not white listed. It's ultimately up to Verizon to white list the phone which they don't have to. We will see. The ideal situation (at least for Verizon customers) is to offer the phone on Edge with the $25 discount but seeing how Motorola is no longer working with carriers with the Moto X it seems highly unlikely that will happen. If more OEM's are releasing cheaper Verizon compatible phones it may be smarter to get a more expensive model on Edge. Only Verizon unlimited holders don't have to worry because that plan does not quality for the $25 line discount.

If the phone is bought outright and the line isn't under contract, the month-to-month discount will apply, either $15 or $25 depending on the More Everything plan. Not sure what you mean by "white listed". As long as it's bought outright in a store or CPE from a third-party, there's still going to be a month-to-month discount if the line isn't under an existing contract.

I would rather prefer not buying phone carriers. 1. Carrier charges more, AT&T does. Sometime you get better price from ebay and that too without tax. 2. No bloatware. 3. Option to change carrier without missing radio frequency. 4. You can use your phone globally. 5. AT&T and verizon locks (encrypted) bootloader on their phone, so root might not be possible and low chances of custom ROMS.

When it company makes more than one phone, it doesn't matter if one device eats into the sale so another, all the money ends up on the same hands. The S6 Edge Plus is being said to be the Pen less Note. Well that is what the S is since the release of the Note. Now it's available me bigger. The Note is just an all around better device vs the S. Though I love my S6 Edge, when I had the a note I simply didnt is the S at all. The Note 4 is awesome, but I didn't like it a whole bunch. I mostly just like the 1440p display and better caneras. The Note 5 looks like they took the Note and shove it into a metalic full bodied skin I'm not sure I like it yet until I see it. Of not I too woll.just get the S6 Edge Plus. It's because going to come down to what Samsung has added to the Note to have me consider going back with this model or just waiting for the Note Six.

The current 16mp camera on the s6 and s6 edge is second to none. Samsung has come a long long way and pretty happy to see smartphones give even dedicated camcorders a run for their money.

I think the Sony sensor from the Note 4 is better than the ISOCELL, for sure. I hope the Note 5 doesn't sacrifice image quality for the new, thinner ISOCELL sensor.

Good question, but both are pretty great, so I don't think it matters too much.
