12 awesome apps for root Android users
Android modifications come in a variety of forms. Some are merely cosmetic – think replacing your stock app iconstrying out a different system font, or switching to a third-party lock screen, to give a few examples. Others tinker with Android's inner workings to enable advanced features, such as the ability to remove bloatware or to modify app permissions. Then there's rooting – the process of obtaining administrator privileges over the operating system. While having root access doesn't do much on its own, it has long become the most popular Android hack as it paves the way for a plethora of awesome modifications to be executed.

What modifications, you ask? Well, just flip through the slideshow below to get a better idea. We've collected some of the most useful and fun Android apps for root users – utilities that let you truly take control of your Android smartphone or tablet. But beware – using some root apps can be tricky, if not dangerous. There's always the risk of something not turning out as expected, so make sure you back-up your important data before applying any modifications. With that out of the way, here are the apps we've picked for you.

Lol I was going to mention this. I don't visit PA off my Mac anymore because these full screen pop ups are the absolute worst.

I'd put SD Maid up there too, kinda useful to clean up junks, it's like the Ccleaner of Android.

Um, how?! I've jailbroken every iPod, iPad, and iPhone I've ever had and rooted every Android I've ever had except my first one (it wasn't popular enough to get dev attention). I can tell you that rooting allows you to do like literally 10x more than jailbreaking. That comes from an owner of about 5 iOS devices and 10-15 Android devices. And I drive each device I have to it's max potential. :P

Titanium Backup ro remove the bloatware and Greenify to keep the device running using less resources. Two of the most used. Many people also like Xposed but I don't use it.

Tasker isn't a root app by definition. Certain actions need root access, but Tasker is great without them. Been running Tasker without root since Lollipop preview until this weekend and only missed 2 actions (out of 30 or so). Also might mention Xposed doesn't run on Lollipop (or actually ART).

Same applies to greenify. It works very well with non-rooted phones as well.

Here is my app "Tilt Scroll", which adds to your phone, the feature "scrolling by tilting" , and works with all other applications. So basically, you can scroll your screen just by tilting your device. Video: youtube.com/watch?v=cZcPtR_YW48 Google Play : play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tafayor.tiltscroll.free
