Samsung includes a refurbished 3-year old Galaxy Note 3 in its list of Black Friday deals
By all accounts, 2016 was not a great year for Samsung. Oh, it started out quite well, thank you, with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Samsung Galaxy S7 edge. But the double recall on the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, which resulted in the device being pulled from Sammy's lineup, reportedly cost the company as much as $5 billion in costs and lost sales. And who knows how much the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco will hurt them in the future.

While Samsung would love to make up the missed sales, it is not going to do so by selling refurbished three-year old handsets. Yet, a refurbished Samsung Galaxy Note 3 shows up in the company's online deals for Black Friday. The price of the 2013 phablet is $249, a 50% cut from the usual price. The refurbished Galaxy Note 3 is available for Sprint and T-Mobile users,

To refresh your memory, the phablet comes with a 5.7-inch screen with a 1080 x 1920 resolution. The Snapdragon 800 SoC is under the hood carrying a quad-core 2.3GHz CPU, and the Adreno 330 GPU. 3GB of RAM is inside along with 64GB of native storage. A 64GB capacity microSD slot is included for those who need additional storage. The camera combo from back to front weighs in at 13MP/2MP, and a replaceable (!!) 3200mAh battery is on board. Having lived through four updates, Android 5.0 is installed.

Instead of buying someone's former problem, why not look at a new handset. Best Buy has the Motorola Moto G4 Plus for $249.99. While there is no S Pen, most of the specs are comparable, and you're buying a new phone with a fingerprint scanner.
