Motorola sends out soak test invites for RAZR HD and Maxx HD: 4.2?
A new e-mail has started hitting users from Motorola, and inviting users to join an unspecified soak test for the DROID RAZR HD and DROID RAZR Maxx HD. The e-mail doesn't mention what the soak test is for, but we'd say the smart money is on this being the testing for the Android 4.2 update for both devices. As of right now, both devices are running Android 4.1.2, and there have been rumors that Android 4.2 is on the way for the devices, so it would make sense.

The e-mail that is going out reads:
Thanks for joining the Motorola Feedback Network. We are inviting owners of the Droid RAZR HD and RAZR HD Maxx on Verizon to participate in an early preview of a new software release, and provide feedback. If you are not currently using a Droid RAZR HD or HD Maxx, please excuse and ignore this email.

Click this link — *retracted* – to take the enrollment survey if you wish to take part. Note that you must be a member in good standing of the Motorola Owners’ Forums to be included. The registration window could close without notice so please respond as quickly as possible.

This is a confidential test under the terms of the Motorola Feedback Network. Do not post any details or information about this on any public sites.

Thanks — please understand that start times are always fluid. We ask for your patience if you register but don’t hear from us right away.

No doubt that once whatever is being tested rolls out to testers, we'll see more leaks about what it is and what to expect, but for right now all we really know is that something is happening with the two Motorola Verizon devices.

sadly it's not 4.2.
i received the email myself and it said it's just a small maintenance update.
i'm sure Moto has builds of 4.2 that are near completion though.
we'll probably learn more from the reps at the Moto X press conference.

I have to ask, has any US flagship phone which didn't ship with it gotten 4.2 yet?

considering how intent Motorola was at updating nearly every handset that can handle it to 4.1 i think it would be pretty safe to assume the 4.2 update is coming sooner rather than later. last i heard it was in testing for the Atrix HD and the Razr HD models.
