Asus ZenFone Max and ZenFone 2 Laser get updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow
Earlier this year, Asus promised that some of its smartphones would be updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow before the end of the second quarter (aka the end of June). Well, we're happy to inform you that three ZenFone handsets are already getting their Marshmallow updates over the air. We're talking about the ZenFone 2 Laser 5-inch (model number ZE500KL), ZenFone 2 Laser 5.5-inch (model number ZE550KL), and ZenFone Max (model number ZC550KL).

Not only that the update brings all the features included in Android 6.0 Marshmallow, but it also removes some pre-installed apps (you can call that bloatware), including Asus Email, Asus Messenger, and Asus Calendar. As always, you can manually check if there's any update for your ZenFone by going to Settings -> About -> System updates.

In the near future, the following Asus devices should also be updated to Marshmallow:

  • Asus ZenFone 2 (ZE550ML, ZE551ML)
  • Asus ZenFone 2 Deluxe (ZE551ML)
  • Asus ZenFone 2 Deluxe Special Edition (ZE551ML)
  • Asus ZenFone 2 Laser (ZE500KG, ZE551KL, ZE600KL, ZE601KL)
  • Asus ZenFone Selfie (ZD551KL)
  • Asus ZenFone Zoom (ZX551ML)
  • Asus PadFone S (PF500KL)
You can find more details about Asus' latest software updates over at the official ZenTalk forums (see the source links below).
