ZUK Z1 unveiled; phone features 5.5-inch FHD screen, SD-801, 4100mAh battery
Last month, the ZUK Z1 was leaked by the CEO of the company, and within hours it had been certified by TENAA. Things have been a bit quiet since then, but today the handset was officially unveiled. You might recall that ZUK is backed by Lenovo, so the company has some deep pockets it can rummage its hands through if needed.

The ZUK Z1 is equipped with a 5.5-inch screen that features a 1080 x 1920 resolution. Under the hood is the Snapdragon 801 SoC. No, that's not a typo and we did not transpose the "0" and the "1." The chipset comes with a quad-core 2.5GHz CPU and the Adreno 330 GPU, and is still hearty enough to run the Z1. 3GB of RAM is inside, along with 64GB of internal storage.

The 13MP rear-facing camera comes with a Sony sensor (IMX214) and guess what? It has OIS. An 8MP front-facing snapper uses an OmniVision sensor and is ready to snap selfies and handle video chat. A generous 4100mAh battery keeps the generator humming, and Android 5.1.1 is pre-installed.

Other features include a fingerprint scanner, which is embedded in the "home button," and the USB Type-C 3.0 port which is on board. The phone measures 8.9mm thick, and weighs in at 175 grams. The ZUK Z1 has dual SIM slots and is priced at the equivalent of $285 USD. You can purchase the phone in white or grey. There is no word yet on when the phone will launch.

How many flagships used the 801 processor, had a touch fingerprint scanner, a 4,100mAh battery, & USB Type-C 3.0 port in 2013?

Yep they should went with 805. With 1080p and 805 perfomance would be much superior.

Gurl, for that price, 801 is more than justifiable. That was flagship grade last year, plenty powerful.

Even SD800 is more than decent processor even today, so why wouldn't 801 be? I mean, yes, this thing ain't as fast as GS6 or G4, but if you don't compare them side by side, the difference is almost irrelevant. Plus, this thing costs $285, not $600+.

I'd much rather have SD801 than that cooker SD810.

I noticed that a lot of brands lately named their upcoming phones starting with Z, like Z1, Z2! Why? This is so stupid, can't they make up some new names?

It's so sad that Lenovo being the largest PC manufacture have to ripped off the iPhone blatantly

It has a "USB Type-C 3.0 port". So I think it should support fast charging. If this is indeed true, its just sad that the one plus 2 couldn't include fast charging and a bigger battery.

is this the only sub $300 with OIS, 64GB, 4100mAh, fingerprint scanner and USB type-C ? it will even better if they make SD808 version for $350

I believe sd801 is better than sd810 in real life usage and even thorough benchmarking.
