Xiaomi to hold more open sales in India starting today; stocks of Xiaomi MiPad are replenished

Starting today, Xiaomi is offering the 64GB Xiaomi Mi 4 flagship phone in India without requiring buyers to register. The open sale of the handset began at 2pm local time. The 64GB Mi 4 joins the 16GB variant of the device and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G on the list of Xiaomi handsets that are not being subjected to flash sales. The Xiaomi Mi 4 is priced at the equivalent of $320 USD for the 16GB model and $384 USD for the 64GB variant. The Redimi Note 4G can be purchased for the equivalent of $159 USD.

Speaking of open sales, last week the Xiaomi MiPad was offered sans registrations and inventory that was supposed to last for two weeks was sold out in one hour. The company promised that it would return with more tablets and now we know that the slate will go back on sale in India starting March 30th. The Wi-Fi only tablet will be priced at the equivalent of $209 USD.

All of the devices will be offered by Indian on-line retailer Flipkart, the company that also hosts Xiaomi's flash sales in the country. With the flash sales, consumers were required to register first. Xiaomi would then release a limited number of units for sale. Many times, the devices would be all sold within seconds. With the open sale, a consumer does not have to register in advance, and he or she can purchase the device at any time as long as there is inventory remaining.

Thanks for the tip!

Mipad or Ipad mini 2 which one should I buy. Apple has excellent hardware and app store whereas Mipad costs half of iPad mini 2 and has expandable storage and is not tied to ITunes.

Definitely go for Mi Pad. No questions at the hardware and price.

If your in the US, and the MiPad is compatible w/ the big 4 carriers here and able to download the Google Play Store out of the box then I would get the MiPad. If you have to root and ROM it to be able to do both of those then I would just get the iPad. I'd also worry about warranty, if something happens to it do you have to ship it back to China to get it fixed/replaced vs just going to a Apple Store.

it has no network connectivity options , only wifi so there is no compatibility issue . And it comes down to os preference and budget . i went with mipad since it was considerably cheaper and i wanted a tab with really good screen just for reading and browsing purpose . Planning to test cm11 on mine and if that works well then this tab is simply amazing
