March 27 is shaping up to be a very interesting date for whose who follow the developments out of the Chinese phone industry. The world's third and fourth handset makers are set to announce their spring crops then, and, while we know most everything there is to know about Huawei's P20 trio, Xiaomi's announcement is still a bit of a mystery when it comes to outer appearance.

We know that it is going to announce the bezel-less Mi Mix 2s, boosted by Qualcomm's powerful new Snapdragon 845 mobile platform. The device is expected to feature a four-sided ceramic body, and carry a tall 5.99-inch display. According to previous rumors, the device will have a version with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM, along with 256GB of high speed UFS storage. A pair of 12MP cameras will adorn the back of the handset, and in-display fingerprint scanner may be on board. The Mi Mix 2s is expected to be equipped with global 4G LTE bands and wireless charging, as you can see from Xiaomi's official teaser on the right.

While we can expect record benchmark scores, thanks to the Snapdragon 845 chipset, what interests us more is the way the company approaches the "all-screen" trend. It was the first to release a phone that trimmed bezels to the max, with the original Mi Mix, then took this a step further with the Mix 2. The 2s, however, may be addressing the biggest criticism against its predecessors - the unorthodox front camera placement and earpiece technologies.

Judging from the leaked video above, a regular speaker is housed in a slit at the top frame, where it belongs, and the selfie camera is up top this time, housed in a tiny notch at the corner. Thus, Xiaomi will kill several birds with one stone, and we can't wait to measure the screen-to-body ratio on this one.
