Win a Nokia Lumia 1020 with Nokia's latest contest, pet required

Do you live in the US? Do you have a pet? Good! That means you can join the fun and grab a brand new Nokia Lumia 1020 smartphone from Nokia's latest contest, plus a $1000 will be thrown in to sweeten the victory. But first, you'll have to take your smartphone and start snapping some photos.

Interested? Then here's what you need to know about the "Discover Your Pets" contest by Nokia. You must submit an original photo "that in a creative way shows off your pet animal". Submissions are already being accepted via Nokia's YouTube and Facebook pages (available at the source link below), or Nokia's US web page. You are also free to share your photo via Twitter by adding the hashtag #Discover to your tweet. You have only one shot so make sure you upload the best photo you can snap.

Every two weeks, Nokia will be posting shared images submitted by people who participate in this and its upcoming photographic challenges. Eight more contests of the same kind, but with different themes, are also coming in the future. A $25 000 grand prize will be awarded to the top photo selected from the 9 individual contest winners.

Nokia's "Discover Your Pets" contest ends on August 28, meaning that you have less than a couple of weeks to unleash your creativity and win a Nokia Lumia 1020. For further details, don't forget to check the competition's official rules at the link below!

The Contest begins on August 15 2013 at 012:00:01 p.m. Pacific Time (“PT”) and ends on August 28, 2013 at 11:59:59 p.m. PT (the “Contest Period”).

You need a pet? You ARE a pet, bunny. :) Take a picture of yourself and then submit it to Nokia's Facebook!

Why in US? Also bring it to other countries.

Likely to gain market share. They have next to none there. It's a good move from a marketing standpoint. Tis' why LG and Samsung never do these contests here in the US (besides on twitter).

Legalities, for one. Taxes and stuff for another. Also shipping costs and what device they give out.

I love android. But I hate the fandroids. It's like their life depends on making stupid comments.

The "fans" of all devices fall into that category. Top of the Stupid Pile? Fans who incorporate a device name into their screen name.

Wow. That's coming from PotDragon. Full Disclosure Pot Dragon, I currently own Nokia stock and made good money on Apple stock. So you might want to put the pipe down because you fall into that stupid fandroid camp. I put my money where my mouth is not a pipe.

This phone doesn't sell itself. Might as well give it away.

I´ll tell you my history ( I hope Nokia members can read it ) ... Nokia and Sammy fans, here my report for you ... I love cameras as I told before but there was NO mobile with high resolution. In my country (Brasil) if you think about a good cameraphone Nokia 1020 you must be able to pay $ 950 for a unlocked one plus 60% taxes and 2 times dolar conversion to "real" , that´s mean ... at about $ 1750 !!!! So ... NO WAY, I had (as I told before) a Sony DSC-TX66. Very good during the night to watch on monitor normally, but if you put on paint (windows) a00% crop ... what ahorrible photo , full of noise etc. I was looking for a good cameraphone since I bought my first mobile. I was surronding Nokia 808 Pureview, reading the Nokia blogs, against S4 Zoom recently, against all the others. Pureview ALLWAYS won (ok, S4 now is far close from it )!!! The price for a phone here (Br) is UNREAL ! So ... here we have something like ebay (mercadolivre) and I decided to seek for a old Pureview (to put away Sony). I still have my WONDERFUL S3 totally modified rom (the camera records 30fps, 195 bitrate sound and the photos for a S3 amazing ! Diferently from ALL blogs), the video record is in pair with pureview (believe me !). Now I´m the happiest people on earth (almost) I bought one Pureview 808 by ... 700 "reais" ... at about $ 180 !!! The quality of the images ... you know well, but the rest ... I already have my S3, so I kept the two !!! My great solution ( a little bit strange) but ... HAPPY, Nowdays we pay a very high price for a unlocked phone ! I spent almost NO MONEY, kept my GORGEOUS S3 and the unbeatable cameraphone 808. I can give up the Samsung S3 , the touch wizard , all the features, the big screen, gorila glass 2, android market place it´s a paradise !!! It´s like you have a small tablet full of things. WP no way ! So ... that´s my happy end history. I hope someday I can buy a 1020 (used or new), and of course a Galaxy S4. Regards from Brasil - Sergio
