Vivo is one of those innovative Chinese smartphone manufacturers that push the envelope of smartphone design. And while most U.S. consumers are not familiar with the brand, in China it was the third most popular smartphone manufacturer during the second quarter. And now the company has released a video teaser promoting the third generation of its sleek NEX line (which will support 5G connectivity) and released more information about the phone on Weibo (via Gadgets360).

First, let's discuss what we can see in the video. It appears that the phone will sport a waterfall display with two curved sides that drop almost straight down. Circles seem to be in this year in China, and the triple-camera setup is housed in a circular-shaped module on the rear panel. The primary sensor is said to weigh in at 64MP. And the NEX 3 5G will be equipped with a popup selfie camera which should allow for a high screen-to-body-ratio. In addition, the phone will offer 44W fast charging and feature a 3.5mm earphone jack.

The Vivo NEX 3 5G will be unveiled next month, and you won't find it on the shelves of any carrier or electronics retailer in the states. Still, it is always a good idea to see what the trends are coming out of China. So it would appear that waterfall screens and circular camera modules (also tipped for the OnePlus 7T Pro) could be heading for America later this year and throughout 2020.
