After numerous leaks and rumors, Nokia’s unannounced
Lumia Icon / 929 might finally be ready to hit shelves in the US. According to @evleaks, the new Windows Phone 8 handset could be released on February 5, although he suggests that the launch date may also be March 5.
Curiously, the Lumia Icon can already be
purchased in China, where it costs around $628. Its price at Verizon, off contract, might be similar. We’re guessing that the largest US mobile carrier will not ask more than $200 for the handset on contract.
The
Lumia Icon 929 is a big step up from Verizon’s older Lumia 928. Its features include a 5-inch display with 1080 x 1920 pixels (441 ppi), LTE and global 3G connectivity, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.2GHz, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal memory, and what seems to be a 2,420 mAh battery. The smartphone has a 20MP PureView rear camera with dual LED flash (gone is the Xenon flash found on the Lumia 928’s camera).
The Icon will be the world's second 1080p Lumia smartphone, after the larger
6-inch Lumia 1520 (which is already available in the US via AT&T, costing $199.99 on contract).
