Verizon telling employees that Galaxy Nexus launchs on December 15th

Verizon telling employees that Galaxy Nexus launchs on December 15th
The Galaxy Nexus used to be scheduled to drop in stores today, but clearly that didn’t happen. There has been some speculation that the 4G network problems Verizon faced this week may have led to the delay. Of course Verizon hadn’t announced the date officially, so naturally they didn’t offer an explanation for the display.

According to tipsters from Verizon, store managers are being informed that they should expect the Galaxy Nexus to launch next Thursday, December 15th. We know that any delay is upsetting for people who are desperately waiting for this phone, but it’s been two years now that Verizon customers have been waiting to get a Nexus device, so what’s another six days, right?

Seriously...stop posting things that aren't coming directly from Verizon. Can't we just wait for them to make the announcement or just wake up one day to a nice early christmas surprise with it on the website ready for order?

UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I hate Verizon. Does it seriously have to be on a f**king Thursday? Just release it on the day that it is ready. Like.... TODAY. LTE is back up. F'ing release it.

They release every new phone on Thursday. How do you know that it is even ready?

I know but I can't tell you how or why. It is in regards to the LTE network. We always release major phones on Thursday's but there is no actual reason behind it.

I would believe this. When the Samsung Droid Charge was supposed to be released there were plenty in the stock room but there was some kind of hold on them till Samsung and Verizon gave the go ahead. Then it became delayed due to some bug so the phones sat in the stock room for a couple of more weeks. I was annoyed but I am quite happy with my Thunderbolt. Now using the Rezound battery in it there's no regrets.

IT IS IN STORES RIGHT NOW!!!!!! how much more ready do you want it dude! i personally saw it,held it in my hand and had one set aside for the release today then got told it is now release "TBD" by the Verizon employee when she opened up here email this morning. it can't be hardware because they are not going to fix then in boxes at verizon stores and if it is a firmware/software issue let us have the phone and get the update ota and be done.

Really how many pictures do you need to see before you are convinced it's in the stores. Do you think they just appear on the day they are to be released. Atliest read other articles on this site about this phone and you would know. You can search with a search feature on this site.

While I have no doubt that they do have it in the stores, it was not uncommon for stores I worked at to receive "drop shipments" the morning of the launch date. However, that usually occurred for the non-Thursday launch dates. Thursday is the day of choice because stores receive their weekly shipment on Wednesday (at least when I worked there).

you people need to stop being mad at VZW. THEY have never said a word about a release date. GOOGLE said the phone would be released in November.. and last i checked.. it was. Big G never said it would be november ON VZW. The only reason people are getting so mad is because the phone sites are circulating rumor after rumor after rumor. Which IS their job. It brings hits to the site. But it also aggravates people. Point is, be mad at the right peeps. VZW never said a word to anyone. I dont know about u guys, but the constant rumor cycle has worn me out. im ready to hear about the next big thing.. lol

I'm ready to hear about the next big thing, but I feel as if this phone will last me just as long as my OG Droid (2 years and counting until the GNex is out) and I'll be satisfied the entire time.

im not a VZW customer. but i do not like VZW exactly because "THEY have never said a word about a release date". i hate on VZW because their customers deserve an exact release date. just my $0.02.

Maybe they haven't released an official date because they don't know when the device will be ready. If they had promised it last month, people would be more livid than they already are. Why announce something that could be subject to change? That's shooting yourself in the foot. I know people are angry, but if VZW announced an official date and didn't come thru, stuff would really hit the fan. I do customer service at Verizon. I have not had ONE customer asked about this phone. I know plenty of us geeks can't wait, but the run of the mill smartphone user doesn't know or doesn't care about this phone. It'll be out when it's ready, until then people will learn some patience.

this phone very well could be the most influential device of this holiday season. all subsequent androids will be built from its floorplan. VZW needs to have a peg on exactly when its hitting shelves. and they need to share that date with the consumer. give me a date to put on the calendar and i'll wait patiently.

VZW knows when it will launch. VZW is a very cautious and controlled company. I used to work customer service as well as sales with them. They WILL NOT launch it if they know it will have a bug at launch. Some things you cant forsee, but if they catch it before hand, they will let the phone wait for an update.. aka ICS 4.0.1. They tried that whole "patch it after launch knowing it has a bug BS" with the Storm, and that bit them on the ass bigtime. They are not going to do that again very easily. Hold your horses. The phone is going to be a hot seller if its launched yesterday, today, or tomorrow.

Sorry.Verizon does not need to do anything but let this phone sit on the shelf until they resolve this Google Wallet fiasco. It is absolutely in stores. Wednesday Dec 7, I told the rep he would NOT be selling any on Friday. He was surprised. I thought it was funny.

vzw doesn't owe anything to customers when it comes to release dates. They owe them a good phone with the best software possible. The owe customers reception.

They owe proper updates to the people that sign up for email updates. I got informed about the droid razr 5 days after releas. Yes google announced it would release at the end of November but considering this is supposed to be a google experience phone designed for this phone it should have been released back on November 17 along with the gsm version. I don't like the fact that there are so secretive about the progress of the phone or the reall reason for the delay and not just we know nothing and to have Verizon talk aout Verizon in the third person like they know as much as we do. That is a lie. I really get irritated when people stick up for Verizon like they want the best for it's consumers. They just want to make as much money as possible and that's it. It does not take a month to fix little errors or bugs in a phone when your pumping that much money into the development of it and when the operating system was built to work on this phone and it's hardware specifically. There is other reasons other than bugs. I would bet my left nut this phone had the same little bug as the Europe version and could have been launched back then. LTE has been out for a year and all the hardware on the phone has been out about as long or longer. Verizon is by far the weirdest company when it comes to releasing really great phones except iPhone because they don't have the control. They are loosing millions of dollars ever day this phone is not released considering every day gets closer to the next release or update of another phone to ice cream sandwich with better hardware. So I can see the point of the whole poor Verizon they have done nothing but that's if you believe what there are saying to heart and it's true. Also the fact they have said nothing is the main reason I am frustrated with them. All of us getting frustrated are just empowering them to do this next time and give them a feeling of power over consumers like they are deserving of such weird secretive info. I just don't get it because everything is known about the phone and it's the launch date that's such a seceret. And if all this is because the phone is not ready from LTE and data bugs than that proves that Verizon is not ready to handle such an important release as the next generation of android and they don't really deserve to get the exclusive rights to the next nexus phone. I hate to say that cause I have Verizon but that would be true

thumbs down...buddy, if i could thumb you down multiple times i would. anybody who expects that when they sign up for email updates thru a specific carrier to be notified about a completely irrelevant phone to them (GSM Razr)...can't have anything else smart to say. this isn't a civil war, its a company trying to do things the right way. what irritates me is ppl that think a business shouldn't be about money. so they thought of something that you aren't capable of doing & charge you for it. why wouldn't they? wouldn't you? i'd bet my right would. aren't they doing all the hard work? providing the towers/technology, the workforce to repair the technology when it goes down, the workforce to keep the service steady. can you do a 1/3 of what it takes to be even the worst carrier out there? i can't...neither can you, jackwagon so quit the whining or go back to a rotary phone. its a business...who goes into a business venture saying "let's not make money today". you want the best coverage, best phones, best customer service...for crap network costs. how does that work? its not that Verizon doesn't care but they have to worry about more than just one person's wishes to attend to the whole. if businesses followed all of the (infinite) customer complaints they all would be bankrupt. i wish i could drive off a BMW lot paying a Chevy Aveo price. ppl get bent out of shape for the most ridiculous reasons. iPhone is a 3G product. 3G is pretty solid on Verizon. That is an effortless release. 4G is new (& at this point limited) so its not going to be as easy. idk about you but i'd rather have a carrier play it safe & release products the right way instead allowing consumer impatience (childishness) put pressure on them to release a disaster.

"...but that's if you believe what there are saying to heart and it's true. Also the fact they have said nothing is the main reason I am frustrated with them." Which is it? Did they say something which needs to be believed (as you say) or did they say nothing. You need to chill out. Get laid or something. Smoke a joint. Whatever it takes, but that long paragraph you posted is seriously troubling, Get over it.

VZW doesn't like the fact that most Samsung phones are nothing but problematic... I mean look at the wonderful Fascinate fiasco. They want to make sure the one they release on VZW is actually right. I commend VZW for delaying it. As for working for VZW I have heard nothing about a release date and have yet to see one in a store so I do not believe anyone has "received their shipment" yet.
