This new Sony Xperia flagship smartphone could be announced on September 1 at IFA 2016
Sony this week confirmed that it will host a press conference on September 1 at IFA 2016 in Berlin. While the company doesn't say what it's going to announce then, we think that there's a high chance for a new flagship to be unveiled on that day. And we may have already seen photos of this next generation flagship.

Currently known as Xperia F8331 (this is just a model number, of course), the upcoming Sony smartphone seems to have a revamped design: it doesn't quite resemble the current Xperia X phones, and neither the latest Xperia Z models. According to rumors, the device's front and rear cameras will both feature 4K video recording, which would be a first in the smartphone world. A USB Type-C port, and possibly a 1080p display should also be on the specs list. Details regarding the phone's processor, memory, and battery are currently missing.

In recent years, Sony took advantage of the fact that IFA is the largest consumer electronics show in the world and officially showcased various flagship smartphones during the event, including the Xperia Z5 (announced on September 2, 2015). Thus, we're certainly looking forward to seeing what the company will share with us at IFA 2016.

i think sony needs to get themselves organized... they've got their product line "X out just now out of which X Performance seems to be the flagship... they need to be clear as to their product line, get their software/hardware package right (their flagships seem to be "only good" instead of "wow) especially if they dont have samsung's huge marketing budget, and market their product right....

I dont like edgy corners. looks terrible and rounded corners are much more comfortable. sony flagships have always been ergonomically bad. i hope it is not the final design but it looks like it is...

Rounded corners are ugly as hell. Sony love thier monotholic and omnibalance design. You really have a bad taste. You love the ip6, which has rounded corners. Rounded corners never look stylish and modern. Just imagine the TVs had rounded instead off edgy.? It would look ugly. I understand it's not comfy. But sacrifice.

Lol, what even made you think I'm an Apple fanboy? I like Sony and Android more than Apple. The only phone from Apple I like is the iP5SE. I don't like Apple.

lol, take a chill pill. you dont hold a tv in your hands. most phones have rounded corners, not only iphone. i remember some lumias had edgy coners and i didnt like it too. so you understand its not comfortable and you call me a person with bad taste? my htc 10 looks great and feels great in a hand. i dont need to sacrifice anything.

You care about ergonomic more than style.

Well you just did, HTC10 is fat and has a camera hump. So how were those rounded corners again?

They need to release this phone in 2017. Let the X Performance stay Sony's flagship for the rest of the year to avoid all the unneeded confusion with the Xperia lineup
