Tag Heuer Connected smartwatch hands-on

5comments

Do you want a smartwatch running Android Wear, but one made by a company that has a proven track record in making high-end traditional time pieces that withstand the test of time?

Tag Heuer's Connected smartwatch is as close as it gets to that: an all premium, $1,500 smartwatch running Android Wear, it carries the revered 'Swiss Engineered' label. Yes, this is the most expensive Android Wear smartwatch in existence.

From afar, it's easy to tell that this is a premium offering from Tag Heuer, but upon closer inspection one notices that it's quite a large timepiece. Measuring 12.8mm thick, it is bulkier than the Huawei Watch (11.3mm) and the 2015 edition of the Moto 360 (11.4mm). It has a large, slightly protruding clasp, but overall fits very comfortably on the wrist, and that's not something that necessarily applies to all smartwatches.

Overall, the Tag Heuer Connected is a large, masculine watch with a very distinct premium vibe to it. Having Android Wear on board with the Tag Heuer brand is something that watch lovers who are also enthusiasts for smart connectivity will appreciate. For the average consumer, this will be a bit out of reach because of the steep price tag, but we're looking forward to seeing how this new category of premium smartwatches does. Would you consider such a watch?
