T-Mobile's Samsung Galaxy Note 4 receives update that will improve battery life

An update has been sent out for the T-Mobile version of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4

Some T-Mobile subscribers who ordered the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, are just beginning to receive their new phablet. And no sooner are they gently removing their new pride and joy from the box, then a notification pops up about an update. While the 65.67MB update basically kills some bugs and makes the device more stable, it also adds additional life to the 3220mAh battery employed by the handset.

The update is being sent out OTA, which means that you will receive a notification when it is ready to be downloaded and installed on your Galaxy Note 4. If you are the impatient type (and when it comes to additional battery life, aren't we all?) you can always try to coax the update out by going to the settings menu to see if it is available.

T-Mobile started sending out the device as soon as last Friday to a lucky few, while others should be receiving their Galaxy Note 4 today.

Made my preorder yesterday on Sprint. Will probably receive it early next week. I'm in a Sprint Spark area as well so I really want to try it out on Sprint Spark. Hopefully the same OTA update that you T-Mo guys got will also be available for us Sprint Note 4 users.

Just got mine yesterday. The battery did not charge up 50% in a half hour. It was around 30%. The battery life was not as good as most of the reviews I've read up online. I did the T-Mobile update in the middle of the night. The update took off 30% of the battery's power. The phone was super hot! It was not just warm. It was like right out of the oven hot. Has that happened to anyone else? I wonder if it had anything to do with me setting up the phone to use ARM. Since then I converted it back to DALVIK. It has not gotten as hot as it did but it gets warm after using it for ten minutes. I hope the battery lasts longer now. It went down 15% in 2 hours. At this rate it will last about 13 hours of use. I don't see it lasting a day and a half like the reviews say.

Since I yesterday at 1 pm fully charged, right now it's 8 am the next day, the battery is at 26%. So I guess it had something to do with setting the runtime to ART. Now that it's on DALVIK, no more overheating.

Samsung makes some pretty impressive devices but I swear that they always come with software that requires updates to fix bugs and it's always a bloody battery draining bug. My ex has had Galaxy phones since the first one she skipped the GS2 but each and every one on T-Mobile had issues that required updates and going back to T-Mobile to fix. Not sure but T-Mobile Samsung phone tend to come with issues with it's software, sort it out.

did you reading anything about ios8? and continous fixes? updates revoked?

I've had the t mobile version since Monday after pre-order and didn't notice any issues before or after the update. What I do notice is that when one company provides an update, the comments are usually, "this is great, you can always count on them to keep improving the user experience." When other companies update I see," sort it out" or "work correctly out of the box." Double -standards can be entertaining.

DEAD ON ARRIVAL.. Got mine on Friday from EE Pre-Order... Whoo Hoo.!! Unfortunately DEAD... DOA!!! :( Managed to get it to power on and start charging but as soon I remove the PSU it just goes blank.. Obviously a faulty battery (Thanks Samsung Quality Control...) Still waiting for EE to sort out a replacement Phone/Battery, apparently they're out of stock, you'd think they'd have kept some for faults.. Don't think I'll ever pre-order again. On a plus note, it doesn't appear to have any gaps..

Anyone else had battery problems? Its now a week since I got it and theres no sign of a replcement from EE, appaently the're out of stock with no dates for when they're getting them, very frustrating and I'm told there's nothing I can do but wait! Lovely new Note 4 that I can't use, won't even power on now!
