Sony sends out email to tell us the extraordinary is coming
With CES 2013 starting this Tuesday, Sony has sent out an email saying that "The extraordinary is coming". The message goes on to add that "In just three days we will introduce something extraordinary to the world and we can't wait to show you what it can do. Stay tuned for more..." Three days would take us to the CES 2013 show in Las Vegas where Sony is expected to show off the new Sony Xperia Z and the Sony Xperia ZL. We've already seen leaked photos of both models and while there are some cosmetic differences between the pair, both have 5 inch 1080p screens with 441ppi pixel density and quad-core processors.

Quad-core powered Android handsets with 5 inch 1080p screens seem to be in this year and we should see a few other such models introduced at CES 2013 such as the Huawei Ascend D2 and the ZTE Grand S. Still, that doesn't mean that we aren't intrigued by Sony's email as we are sure you are too.

Let's hope that it isn't an addition to the extraordinary failure that is their tablet line.

Sony is a brand I used to admire right up till the Xperia Arc and then it just seemed that they lost their way...BUT for the first time since the Arc I am excited for Sony as these are true powerhouses that Sony plans to unveil!

It might not be a failure.. But DROID DNA is already present in market ... 5inch 1080p screen... quadcore s4 pro... grt camera... why should I wait for XPERIA Z... I own a DNA and i can confirm its flawless.. Battery life could have been better but... it is a champion in stand by... Why should any one wait for 1 month or more for this phone... GET THE DNA

well good for u and yes im one of those person that will wait for this phone im crossing my fingers and hope that AT&T will get it.. Why? Because some of us like me live in places were verizon is not that great oh waaait were i live in san juan puerto rico there is no verizon at all NADA in PR . Only at&t,tmobile, sprint and claro are here in puerto rico no verizon so it would be impossible for me to get a droid dna over here haha. Only reason im with at&t its cuz over here it actually works unlike the states were its rated the worse carrier over here its rated #1 so far havent had 1 dropped call since 2010 so im happy and it was the first to bring out LTE over here and is the only carrier that has the most coverage and has the whole island covered in 3G. So yeaa thts why ima wait for this phone cuz the note 2 i got im not liking it tht much its just too dam big.

AT&T will most likely have it as they have i believe almost all of the Experia phones, I hope the opposite of you though and that it comes to verizon Also

Xperia Z arguably has the better design, is more compact (smaller) than the DNA even with the same screen size, and will undoubtedly have a much better, 13MP, camera, it will also be released worldwide and not just in the US/a few other countries like the DNA and butterfly.. And I also think Sony's UI looks a lot 'cleaner' and more modern than sense, especially on the leaked previews of Sony's JB UI.. So no people, wait, and get the better phone...

I have an Xperia Tablet S, It has the foldover design, but it is not weird like the previous ones, actually the Xperia Tab is pretty sexy.....Fit and finish better than an iPad (I had both)

Ha you just made my day!!

There won't be any problems with the build quality I'm sure. And I also think the camera will be great. But I'm disappointed that Sony is late to JB game. Hopefully Sony gets it right this time, and please use the lightest skin but add more useful features. JB' UI is very good already.

Once announced, Sony need to release their new phones quickly. I'm tempted by the Z but if it's released in March/April it'll be dangerously close to the S4.

just out of curosity, whats the S4 gonna have that this wont ? Besides more specs from the S3 and the SAME PLASTIC BUILD!

More features from the new Touchwiz, better specs, and probably some new enhancements to the S-AMOLED display (other than pixel density). And I have faith that Samsung will pull off something in the design department... At the very least, they might get rid of that hyper gloss finish. Don't get me wrong, the Xperia Z will be one hell of a device, but unless Sony does something amazing with their UI (it's good right now, but not quite there yet), and maybe throw in a little something special of theirs with it, the GS4 will out-shine the Z big time. All the Z has right now over the GS4 is the design (but Sammy may surprise us), and the camera. But, let's wait until they're official before comparing. Speculation can only go so far.

Touchwiz is hideous in my opinion but that's a personal opinion

23. XPERIA-KNIGHT unregistered

true for the most part but lets be honest here aside from MORE useless features, more pixel density BUT probably the same display nontheless, the S4 will sell BECAUSE SAMSUNG IS ALREADY ESTABLISHED! Bumping up the size to 4.9 inches or whatever it is supposed to be, will start to make them look like apple! And by that i mean they are becoming the enemy in which they so desperatly hate and are jealous of! you know? New phone with minor adjustments so they feel they can tell the world ITS REVOLOUTIONARY! Im expecting this camera to be really good from sony as well as the build.......That alone wins me over from samsungs cartoony ui But like you said lets wait and see whats in store before speculating

ROFLMAO! Of all the BS you've been spitting about Samsung so far, I think this one is your masterpiece! Except may be the one, where you claimed that the reason why GNOTE II's is selling well is because GSIII owners were ruining themselves by purchasing it in order to support Samsung. Anyway! "New phone with minor adjustments so they feel they can tell the world ITS REVOLOUTIONARY!" HAHAHAHAHA WTF?! Actually, based on your interpretation, every manufacturer out there are becoming like apple then. And basically, you are judging a company based on your own biased speculations about their future products. WOW! You, kid, deserve an an award for that! #thumbup!

OZ i really dont know what to tell you man but if all the stuff i been saying about samsung is biased or a "masterpiece" then why does it seem that samsung is actually listening to my "wrong" ideas? You know the ones where i said SAMSUNG NEEDS TO CHANGE THEIR DESIGN AND HORRRRRRRIBLE BUILD! Because you know thats what they are planning on doing right? lol

SS will always use plastics, they don't change b-c their phones are selling very well. And I think SS has plastic factories so it makes sense for them to use the material.

I would love that OEMs just use stock UI, but add useful features. For a different look? Just use the launchers.

31. SleepingOz unregistered

That's exactly what I was about to say. Launchers like Nova and Apex give you an even better experience than the stock one.

Why is everyone complaining, if you don't like it just use Apex or Nova launchers or others.....

37. MeoCao unregistered

The stock UI is great, but with top phones you just don't have a chance to use it. You must use TochWiz or Sense or whatever. If OEMs allow the right to choose people will stop complaining.

I might get the Z even if the S4 has been announced. I like Sony and Samsung phones but if it is released close to the S4 all the phone websites and media will be concentrating on the S4. I don't want to see the Z get left in the dust because of it. I'd like to see Sony get the recognition they deserve. They release these great phones but hardly anyone takes any notice of them.

44. Aaron_R96 unregistered

In all honesty I cant see how the Galaxy S4 will be much better than the Xperia Z, especially in specs, there is barely any room for improvement on the specs side of things and the Z will have a far superior camera and build quality to ANY Samsung phone. bleh.
