Sony Xperia Z1f screen said to outperform the panel on the Sony Xperia Z1

Sony Xperia Z1f screen said to outperform the panel on the Sony Xperia Z1
Just the other day, we told you how the only announced and released version of the Sony Xperia Z1 mini, called the Xperia Z1f, has gone straight to the top of Japan's smartphone sales charts. We also mentioned that those with the device are comparing it favorably to the Apple iPhone 5s. Even though the device has a smaller screen with lower resolution and a smaller capacity battery than the flagship Sony Xperia Z1, the Xperia Z1f  employs the same Snapdragon 800 CPU you'll find powering the Xperia Z1, along with the same 20.7MP snapper.

Still, a recent battery test found that the 2300 mAh cell on the "mini" version of the Z1 outlasted the 3000mAh battery full-sized model. And now comes the piece de resistance. A published report reveals that the 4.3 inch screen on the Sony Xperia Z1f, with a resolution of 720 x 1280, tops the 5 inch glass on the Sony Xperia Z1 with its 1080 x 1920 FHD resolution.

The report, which comes out of the Middle East, states that Sony used a better quality IPS screen on the mini and this shows up with better contrast and display quality on the Xperia Z1f. If buyers find this to be true, just about all the differences in specs between the flagship Sony Xperia Z1 and the Sony Xperia Z1f would be considered a positive for the smaller device.

A series of picture comparisons, published in Vietnam, can be found below. Obviously, the smaller screen belongs to the Sony Xperia Z1f and the larger screen is from the Sony Xperia Z1. It sure looks to us that the smaller screen has much better viewing angles. Judge for yourself. We could see the international version of the Sony Xperia Z1 mini unveiled on January 3rd and this could end up being the most demanded Sony handset ever.

Thanks Anonymous Tipster!

There is a vid in YouTube where the z1 is destroyed by the HTC one x and iPhone 5. This z1f better be good.

Sony's weakpoint has been their displays, since consolidating Sony Ericsson into Sony. Specifically, how their displays handle blacks.

Sony can make good displays, they really can. But their phones have washed out colours and bad viewing angels, blacks are really grayish. But I have seen Sony products and how good and well engineered they are, so I know that Sony has knowledge to make great displays.

Do you own a recent sony phone?
I do (the zr) and I can categorically say that unless you are viewing the screen dead on it certainly looks washed out. I have lost count of people commenting on this, particularly when it is sitting in its dock on my desk. This is the only bummer in an otherwise rocking phone; if they get the screen right on this bad boy I am in. Fingers crossed

Verbal fights are always OK if they lead somewhere. That´s what Sony worshippers should understand and not act like silly kids.

SONY,, release it internationally a.s.a.p.. I think that Z1f will be way better than Z1 in the performance department.. No point in delaying its release when the company has plans for releasing two early flagships this year.... Anyways, Z1f's display seems to be noticeably better than every sony panel

Wow so much difference in picture 2. I prefer Z1 picture in 3 & 4. The rest is owned by Z1f.

Better display....better battery....and since it has lesser pixels to push, we can expect higher performance...... This is gonna be a super hit!

z1 mini is not made to compete with other mini phones. It's competitor is right at home and it looks like the little beast is winning. just hope it turns out that the display is really this good :)

For the attention of those who said Z1f has a poor color reproduction and bad viewing angles without even seeing the screen.

For all of the complainers of flagships being too big. your wish just came true - your dream phone, the Z1f. at your local store about a month from now, go pre order it. NOW, SHUT *** **** **! :-) also, now there's no reason for you to buy an iphone.

Its still a little big and fat for a phone with a 4.3 inch screen. They could do better especially considering the One S was 7.9mm.

waterproof? 20MP camera? 2300mAh battery?

I don't think so... / 8MP / 1650mAh...

Not the same...

I can vouch for the z1f have a good screen. I played with a display model in store, didn't see anything bad about it to compared to todays standard. The 720p resolution is also good enough.

The camera for some reason took pictures better than the Z1, less noisy. I just didn't like how they shrank the camera button, it's now too small and a bit hard to press, but it's still far better than a lot of other companies attempt at it.

Just think how nice it would be with the same form size but with a 4.5-4.7 inch screen, there's room there if they could somehow shrink those top & bottom bezels a bit.

Yes, that's the size screen that I want in my phone too. Sony's bezels are huge. They need to make top and bottom bezels much smaller. I have a GS3 and I feel the 4.8 inch screen is slightly too large for one handed typing with Swype. I want a slightly smaller screen size. And now the newer flagship phones are only getting bigger with the GS5 rumored to be 5.25". I find it annoying that up until recently most flagship phones with the best processors and most memory. Sony and Motorola figured out that people want screen size options like tablets and laptops without having to settle for a slower processor. I'd like Samsung to

yup... i cant believe that for a flagship device, z1 has an awful screen...no excuse there... and i wonder always why sony, renowned for its display/screen/tv and camera technology, cant apply their expertise on their smartphones.... on the other hand, their hardware design is always beautiful...

another thing, for sure z1f is a better device than z1 especially in the battery department...2300mah on a 4.3 inch screen...thats the same battery for htc one's 4.7 screen, so if htc one can last a day quite comfortably, this one should do more...
