Sony Xperia Z priced in U.K. at £529 from Sony, only £449 from Three; delivery February 28th?
The eagerly awaited Sony Xperia Z, the star of CES 2013, has just been priced in the U.K. Sony is taking pre-orders for the phone at £529 ($837 USD) in black, white or purple. That price is after all applicable taxes. No launch date was listed (more on that coming up), but when the box is in your hot, sweaty hands, it will come with the EP881 Quick Charger, a USB media cable, EX300AP wired headset, internal battery and a screen protector. And yes, the Sony Xperia Z itself.

The Sony Xperia Z can be pre-ordered in the U.K.

The Sony Xperia Z can be pre-ordered in the U.K.

If you live in the U.K., you might also want to consider U.K. carrier Three. The mobile operator is asking for £449 ($710 USD) to pre-order the Sony Xperia Z for a PAYG plan. The plan will add an extra £10 ($16 USD) or £15 ($24 USD) per month. If you're looking to get tied up with a two-year deal, Three will take a down payment of £69 ($109 USD) and monthly payments starting at £34 ($54 USD) for unlimited data, 500 minutes of calls and 5,000 texts. Raise the monthly charge to £36 ($57 USD) and get bumped to 5,000 Three-to-Three minutes and 2,000 minutes of calls. Now here is where we revisit the subject of delivery. According to Three, the Sony Xperia Z has an estimated delivery date of February 28th. That date has been confirmed by Vodafone as the launch date for the Sony Xperia Z in the U.K. If you order the phone from Three, the carrier will toss in the High Definition Sony MDR-1R headphones worth £299 ($473USD) for the first 1,000 buyers.

So it looks like those in the U.K. will be getting the waterproof, dustproof Sony Xperia Z before the end of the month. And with the weather in the U.K., that waterproofing is going to be very much appreciated.

For the 1 billionth time it is NOT an octa core. It is 2 processors together. The power saver is only a7 (very bad, you will notice a lot of lag if you use it.) The other is an exynos 5 quad core (very good should be same cpu power as a tegra 4 with worse gpu.) Only one of these processors can be used at a time, the a7 will most likely be used only while in power saving mode.

Funny thing is your battery improvement from this horrible idea is going to be negligible from just using an exynos 5. Its a stupid gimmick that needs to die.

GS4 won't be out for 2-4 months, there is no guarantee they are even going to use an exynos 5, there is no mention of lte on it so so far carriers will not accept it. It will probably be an s3 with a 1080p 5" screen and the US version will have a snapdragon s4 pro while the international will have an s4 pro to or a quad core exynos 5 or a snapdragon s4 pro.

The speed will be the same I think or s4 a lil bit faster. The different of speed will be minor trust me.

Its too late for USA and Japan , as we using DROID DNA and even better HTC butterfly with same specs since november.
I think it will come even late to USA, will not sell at all , just like xperion did not sell.

NOw gs4 is coming with HTC m7 .. way more powerfull processors, in less than 1 months time, DNA released 3 months ago had same specs, SONY XPERIA Z has other good features but TOO LATE FOR USA

how can you say that? would you please count the similarities of this one with DROID DNA? the build quality, camera, micro SD, NFC, battery and above all water and dust proof? only the processor and display are the same. and again would you please count some of the advantages of M7 or S4 over this one. this phone is the best one available right now and can't be easily out performed by it upcoming rivals.

HTC butterfly has SD card, even DNA has NFC, but verizon removed sd card on purpose... xperia z has water proff and ust prodd.. which motorola defy XT had long back.. but no one cares... we take good care of our phones... that feature is good but not the cutting edge.

Performance.. as it same old snapdragon s4 pro which DNA, nexus 4 had from 4 months... performance is just same.

Camera.. samples do not look grt for xperia z.. HTC has image sense chip 99 continuous burst shot,, no one phone can do that 02 sec/shot.. with crystal clear quality.

and DNA has grt shots, I can post gallery from my DNA any time, just let me know when you want serious... only flaw i found was i had to clean lens every time I shot and adjust ISO in night for more detail shots.

M7 will have tergra 4 or snap dragon s 4 prime.. much superior to s4 pro in xperia z and dna...

I proved every thing to you... i suggest wait for gs4...else your money will be wasted

hahaha, finally you proved you're a samboy man. why dont you ask me to wait for M7??
first, none of DNA or Butterfly have NFC.
second, didnt you see the samples of Z camera compared with Nokia 808. its samples were as good or even better than 808 although it has a 41MP camera. and i think you know that every mobile industry use Sony sensors for its cameras. so, please dont try to downgrade Sony cameras.
third, about the processor, if M7 features tegra4 processor it would be a great loss as far as NVidia processors dont do well. S 4 prime can make some difference.
so you see there is no reason to wait for M7 or even S4 and dont forget that everyone has a different taste.

are you crazy DNA has nfc and i use it every day..IDIOT
camera samples are no way near nokia 808...
I must say all you you said were words no facts..

Higher end procesor, dosent makes difference to buy..?
you are just dumb

watch your words. im not idiot or dumb but you know what? this is what you want others to be in order to put your fullish ideas in their minds.
go and read the comments under that camera comparison and then you'll find out who is dumb. everybody said that Z's camera is one of the best but because you're a fanatic fanboy you don't want to accept it.
you can wait for that fu*king cheap plastic octa core or that M7 with its reiterative and boring design. what do you think about the processor? is that the difference that huge? you must know that S 4 prime will not be released before H2 and no fact is available about how well that octa core will work. so you can wait, but you can't impose your ideas on others.

Sony believe there is no "LATE" for them.
dont forget there 2012 super outdated phone according to haters, and what, they still sell and become third for smartphone. so dont bring those monster specs if the phone looks trash(S3) or repeatitive looks(Droid).

BOW and thank you

The galaxy s4 will not be a threat. I highly doubt the US version will have an exynos 5 either it will be an s4 pro just like the xperia 7. If your lucky the international will be the quad exynos 5 but it will only get 3g speeds in the US. From what samsung has said it sounds like the exynos 5's aren't even close to working in phones because overheating.

Although the lenses are different and the Xperia Z uses heavier noise reduction, here are some Exmor RS analysis via fresh Oppo Find 5 photos. Notice the superior dynamic range of the Exmor compared to the Lumia, also look at the bench, the Find 5 captures more details per pixel (AND has higher resolution).

OF5 Exmor RS:http://img.evolife.cn/2013-01/95efc1e2cdcece37.jpg
Nokia Lumia 920 PureView:http://img.evolife.cn/2013-01/86ce336996b8c39b.jpg

The Nokia takes the edge in white balance (albeit result is a bit too warm, but the Exmor is a bit too green). I like the bigger aperture on the Lumia though

Despite having more noise than the Xperia Z samples, the Oppo Find 5 produces the superior image quality, for whatever reason all full quality samples of the Z look blurrier. The Oppo Find 5 samples, some are HDR:

The Xperia Z Exmor RS samles, look at the blurriness on leaves, on building fine details

Other than being heavily denoised, the Z shots are also highly compressed with an average of 2MBs compared to the 4MB of the Oppo Find 5. In any case the Exmor RS is a very impressive camera module that takes mobile photographs to the next level (the PureView 808 excluded). Hopefully Sony will reduce the denoising filter and compression.

..aand Sony fanboys thumb you down for stating that Oppo takes better photos with the same sensor.

Now, I agree with you.
And it really annoys me how Sony constantly uses that aggressive compression algorithm, and undermines the potential of their phone cameras.
That being said, the Z still produces really good photos, especially in low light

Here's a night one from Hong Kong, quality is okay although not as sharp as it could be, plus a couple more under ideal conditions, very impressive colors and details.

There's normal vs. HDR video comparison too:
