The Xperia 10 and 10 Plus, Sony's rumored Xperia XA series replacements

Leaked Sony Xperia 10 & Xperia 10 Plus renders

In a bid to unify its smartphone branding, around three years ago Sony settled on the ‘Xperia X’ name. Since then, flagship models have been launched under the ‘XZ’ moniker and mid-range models have been known as ‘XA’ devices. But according to tipster Ishan Agarwal, the Japanese brand could soon take a different direction.

Rather than releasing its upcoming mid-rangers as the Xperia XA3 and Xperia XA3 Ultra, the company has chosen a slightly more simplified branding and will launch the two handsets under the names Sony Xperia 10 and Xperia 10 Plus.

As to what can be expected from the rebranded duo, Sony has fitted both with tall 21:9 displays that are coupled with slim side bezels, a non-existent chin, and a pretty large forehead above the panel. Press renders have also shown that the smartphones include a glass build and dual-camera setups on their respective rears.

In terms of internal specifications, rumors point towards Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 inside both devices alongside 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Android 9 Pie straight of out the box is to be expected too.

The Xperia 10 & 10 Plus should go official on February 25th alongside the flagship Xperia XZ4. Speaking of which, it now seems likely that Sony will scrap its ‘XZ’ branding too in favor of something new.

The thought that a whole team created, tested and approved this horrendous design is laughable indeed.

Nothing horrendous about the design at all. Only minor con is the front top is rather large but no notch, no punch hole and no chin. Plus it has one of the best back designs I've ever seen nice and sleek. Sony's design chops are on point with this one.

Hilarious form factor :) On a serious note, this will probably damage Sony Mobile to the point of no return...can' see anyone buying it. And those buying online without seeing will probably return it after they hold it for the first time. But there is an upside to this: Sony apparently managed to remove the chin, which is a first for Android. However, I have a feeling that this was achieved by putting the display upside down (that's why the forehead is so big). OnePlus did this with the 5 and received all kinds of complaints regarding UI smoothness, etc.

Huh? Honor 8x is 6'5"and the ultra will also 6'5" so it will slimmer but its taller a bit.

I think design is so cool. The people who don't like this design use iphones before iphone x. Funny

I love when companies make obvious mistakes like this. It makes for a fantastic pick up on the secondary market. On swappa, the LG g6 goes for $100 and the moto z3 goes for $250. Fantastic deals for phones that aren't too old and are only discounted because they were released with a bad design or omitted spec.

660 is outdated chipset almost 2 years. Which was used in nokia 7 plus a year ago. 660 is older than 636.

No offense but, this design is absolutely stupid to say the least. You say no chin, how about the forehead. You could make two chins from that!!!! This phone redefines ugly. And with that height, maybe your fingers will need a new aspect ratio too. To go with the screen.
