Sony Ericsson to retain the Xperia mini concept in 2011
A few Chinese blogs seem to be quite active lately with some intriguing Sony Ericsson-related news. One such instance is the fact that the successor of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini pro was leaked a few days ago - both with specs and pictures - and now the Japanese-Swedish joint-venture goes on record to (kind of) confirm this leak and paint a vision for the future.

The words of Steven Walker, (acting) head of global marketing at Sony Ericsson:

"There will be subsequent generations of products in these lines as well. We will see new Minis in the future."

Furthermore, it seems like the guys at Sony Ericsson strongly believe in the company's existing product lines, and plan to retain them:

"We believe in the concept of product lines and the idea of creating a product experience that will last beyond one hardware generation. I won’t go into specifics, but conceptually all these lines we created in 2010 will roll forward into 2011 and beyond. We want to build on all the Xperia lines and ranges."

As we told you a few hours ago, the company claims it has learned from its mistakes. The fact is that a few promising Sony Ericsson phones are on the horizon - among them the XPERIA Play (a.k.a. the PlayStation Phone) and the Sony Ericsson Hallon, along with some more handsets that we told you about back in November.

2011 promises to be an exciting year for the Japanese-Swedish joint venture, and with MWC around the corner, it is sure that we will know more about its future projects very soon.

We will be in Barcelona between 14-17 February, and as with CES, you can expect plenty of news and hands-on reports coming straight from the horse's mouth.
