EQO Communications Inc. announced the availability of EQO Mobile for Skype on the Palm TREO 650 and several models from Motorola, including ROKR, SLVR, and RAZR. Thus the company expanded its list of more than 45 EQO-supported handsets, which includes popular devices from Nokia, Motorola, Palm, and Sony-Ericsson. Besides a J2ME-enabled cellphone with data plan, users also need Skype account with SkypeOut credits, Windows XP/2000 or Mac OS X enabled PC as well as a broadband connection. EQO actually is a plugin, which runs on the PC and enables the connection between the Skype account and the mobile phone. After installing it on their PC and answering several questions about their handsets, consumers automatically get the neccessary mobile phone application, which is easy to install. EQO Mobile for Skype allows customers to make and receive Skype calls, instant messages as well as check if their Skype-buddies are online or not without the need of a 3G handset or a high-speed data network. It is available as a Beta product through EQO Communications's web site and is free of charge.
