Shiny HTC Aero concept renders envision volume buttons placed on the bottom
The HTC Aero is one of the most intriguing announcements scheduled for 2015's second half. No wonder - it's supposed to be everything that the HTC One M9 wasn't - that is, exciting. While it is a solid and competent smartphone with stunning good looks, the M9 feels virtually indistinguishable from its predecessor, and its camera and gaming performance, while improved, couldn't really account for a year of progress.

Slow sales made HTC realise its 2015 flagship plans were mistaken from the get-go, which has allegedly prompted the company to revise its approach and introduce something different in the second half of this year. CEO Cher Wang already mentioned HTC will release a new "hero device" towards the end of the year, but any details surrounding the handset's design and features have been left to one's imagination.

Aspiring product designer Hasan Kaymak is no stranger to turning his imaginative smartphone concepts into illustrious renders, and his latest muse is none other than the HTC Aero. True to form, Hasan's vision for the device is exceedingly shiny, without verging into opulent. The front panel is free of side bezels, while the back panel is curved, its lines looking similar to a sports car. Obviously, a polished, mirror-like metal chassis isn't a good choice as it's prone to distracting or blinding the user with light reflections, but it does look great on a render.

Perhaps most controversially, the smartphone's volume buttons have been placed on its bottom left side, which is unusual, to say the least. We're not quite sure what Hasan's big idea is, but at least he's thinking of something different. What do you think of it?

1.Put 1st speaker at the bottom (like S6) and 2nd at the top of the phone. - automatic switch L or R stereo according to phone rotation 2.Put touch control volume +/- next to its logo, + HTC - - no more useless space etc.

Yes looks sick. It should die out anytime soon. Knowing HTC's love for big enormous bezels, this thing won't happen. If they ever remove the stupid HTC black bar of uselessness, I might consider buying one. Their speakers are the killer but the incongruence of the top and bottom bezels is killing the OC side of me. They were doing fine with the One M7/Max but decided going nuts, removed capacitive buttons but left the black bezel useless with just the logo.

I'm not using my phone from the bottom tip so I don't have a hard time reaching the across the screen etc. no matter how big/small the bottom bezel is.. that is how you use a big phone buddy, they're not intended to be used the way you insisted, you have to be flexible, otherwise you will just need a tiny phone.. oh and about my comment, I said it looks sick, but in a good way..

Oh and talking about bezels, your phone that you have (HTC One X) has a hell bigger bottom bezel than this HTC concept render.. shame

The same concept that appeared to be the M9 couple months ago, but it was a shame.

Tablet UI is needed to use comfortably due to weird placement of buttons.

The volume buttons would be nice in landscape mode but a pain otherwise.

Pair this with the One M9 evleaks renders and put the volume buttons on the side and you have winner. Thats if the processor is a Snapdragon 820 and the camera is an IMX240 with dual tone led flash.

The button placement is terrible, even worse then putting them at the top..... Why would it seem like a good idea in anyway what so ever.

Other then the button placement the concept seems solid

Not sure I like the volume buttons but everything else about that design works for me. Unfortunately I doubt HTC is smart enough to build this device.

what the m9 SHOULD have been. although, i am not digging those bottom volume buttons. that would be too akward to use during a phone call.

Earphone jack, earphone jack, earphone jack should be at the bottom.

Except for the buttons placement..if this become an actual design.. Will Definitely be the best looking phone that ever existed.
