Samsung launches new themes for the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge
If you have a Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 edge, you probably already discovered that these are Samsung's first flagship smartphones which support custom themes - as part of the new and enhanced TouchWiz UI that runs on top of Android Lollipop.

Samsung seems committed to adding new themes on a regular basis, and this week it released 9 new ones (from light and cheerful, to slightly darker), all of which are available from the dedicated Theme Store that's pre-installed on the S6 series handsets.

Like all the other themes you'll find in the store, the new ones can be downloaded for free, and can thoroughly change the aspect of TouchWiz, modifying not just your wallpaper and icons, but also sub-menus.

In case you don't know how to download and change themes on the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge, our quick tutorial will help you.

Mind you, when you first buy a Galaxy S6 or S6 edge, you'll only find three themes on board, but that's because Samsung didn't want to pre-install too many of them. It's more convenient for users to download only the themes that they like after browsing the Theme Store.

These themes are more girlish. Need something like Buzz Launcher like themes. Dear theme developers, please look at Buzz Launcher and get some ideas from there.

I agree. I was thrilled when Samsung announced that they are releasing a theme store for the S6, but that turned to a huge disappointment since i got the S6 Edge. The themes SUCKKK, they are focusing just on what the Korean market want, which is hello kitty kinda themes. I can pick just 2-3 themes out of the whole store that i can use, and even those aren't that great.

Stock Android theme is the most boring. Don't judge these themes by looking 3 pictures. It's usually different when using.

what a waste of time... release themes that look like made by a 4 year old, is it so hard to ask for something stylish Samsung? Sony has some cool themes, specially some made by real developers

Your comparing Samsung's way of theming to Sony? With Sony the main changes you see is new wallpaper and the capacitive buttons may change as well as new colours on side bars. It's nothing compared to the way Samsung does it and Samsung just need better developers for there themes.

There are a lot of themes that haven't been current one is the BMW theme....really accentuates the flat material design paper look I think most of the designers are from Korea..some have that pink/Hello Kitty vibe

1. The above themes are not all themes, just the new addition. If you go the the theme store, you can find many, which may actually strike you. 2. Stock Android themes are of no benefit for Samsung. It will make their product look like how Micromax, Colors, Motorola or any other android Oem looks. They would surely want many point of difference rather than point of similarities.

I can confirm that there are few themes(the huge ones) can cause a minimal stutter at times while scrolling through the UI. It doesn't affect opening apps or playing games, but i can definitely notice a bit of stutter every now and then.

There is a bug in the theme manager that makes the phone get hot when you install them that then add lag if you use them, steps to stop problmes linked to the, 1 download themes and turn off phone, keep off for 10min just in case, 2 turn back on and use them without problems

Yea I definately felt some lagg after I changed my S6 theme. I changed it back to stock Samsung theme and the lagg was gone.

Does Samsung allow users/devs to create their own themes like MIUI? 'Cause I think none of these are appealing...

Hey I'm considering getting the s6 edge off my work's phone plan and I was wondering about the themes. Apparently you can choose to make the themes yourself so you don't have to rely solely on the themes they offer. But everytime I try and look it up on the Internet or YouTube I can't seem to find anybody who actually chooses colours for their notification area etc. It's a small thing because I just want to change that blue notification area which kinda hurts my eyes. If any of you over have an s6 or edge please let me know whether it's possible to make your own themes :)
