Samsung US sweepstakes reveal the "Approximate Retail Value' of the Galaxy S 4 to be $579
UPDATE: The SIM-free pricing ballpark for UK has also been outed by an online retailer, and it will be around £529.98 including VAT, which is in line with the current Sony and HTC flagships there.

The pricing scheme of the Samsung Galaxy S 4 already leaked for Europe, at least in Italy, and, as usual for a high-end Android at launch there, it hovers around the EUR 600 mark.

This price typically translates to the same amount, but in dollars, when it comes to the good ol' USA, and, judging from the retail price listed by Samsung itself in official sweepstakes rules, it will go even lower.

In the fifth section there, the rules state: "First Prizes: 48 First Prizes will be awarded, each consisting of a Samsung Galaxy S® 4 mobile device. Approximate Retail Value ("ARV"): $579."

There you have it, the likely off-contract pricing revealed by Samsung itself shows that the Koreans won't be asking an arm and a leg for this year's Galaxy line flagship upgrade, plus, if history is any indication, it will hold value relatively well. The subsidized carrier contract pricing will, of course, be much lower than that.
