It's official: Samsung is embracing the notch with two new displays39
Set to be known as Infinity-V and Infinity-U, the two new displays will be pretty similar thanks to small waterdrop notches that sit just above the screen. However, the differentiating factor between the two will actually be the shape of the element. See, just as their names suggest, the Infinity-U display will adopt a U-shaped notch while Infinity-V panels will use V-shaped ones. Elsewhere, though, the displays are expected to be identical. This means that rounded corners complete with slim side bezels and a small chin below the display are to be expected.
Samsung hasn’t confirmed when these two displays will make it to the market, but it did announce that they will be joined by two other panels. The first, and possibly the one that will be featured on the Galaxy S10 next year ,will be called Infinity-O. Instead of the controversial notch, this display will include a small hole in the top-left corner that houses the front-facing camera.
Separate to these traditional displays, the South Korean giant also announced its new Infinity Flex Display which, just as the name suggests, will be included on its upcoming foldable smartphone. Another thing worth noting is that it’s compatible with Samsung’s new One UI.
