Samsung Gear S2 pre-orders begin at Verizon, watch to launch at T-Mobile November 15th
Verizon has started accepting pre-orders today, for the cellular-enabled version of the Samsung Gear S2 smartwatch. Priced at $299.99 with a signed two-year contract, or $349.99 off-contract, the watch can be added to your Verizon plan for $5 month. That will allow the Gear S2 to access the monthly allocation of talk, text and data that you pay for. Verizon will start shipping the watch on November 6th, which is when they also will be offered inside Big Red's stores.

T-Mobile is skipping the pre-ordering process and is going straight to sales, which start on November 15th. That happens to be exactly one month from today. The timepiece will be available at T-Mobile locations, and from the carrier's website. The Samsung Gear S2 will be priced at $0 down (for well qualified customers) and $15 a month for 23 months. On the 24th month, you pay $14.99. The retail price is $359.99. T-Mobile customers will be able to add the Gear S2 to their existing plan for $5 a month, which includes unlimited talk, text  and data (500MB of high-speed data).

The Samsung Gear S2 is powered by Tizen, and uses a rotating outer bezel to navigate. It is offered in Dark Gray and Silver. If you want to pair it with your Android phone, we have previously published a list of non-Samsung phones that are compatible with the watch. Of course, the device pairs with Samsung Galaxy handsets.

Does this version have a speaker or not, that is the big question. Conflicting info on this...

If it's got call capabilities, it would have to, wouldn't it?

I believe that it does not have a speaker... you'd have to use a bluetooth, though I could be wrong

I've been wondering the same. My wife and I have been thinking of getting my son a phone (he's 10) since the kids get home before we do. This seems like a PERFECT solution. Strap a phone to his wrist, can't lose it, no games to play and no excuses that it was not with him when we call/text. Not having a speaker may change things a bit! Seriously though.. half the cost of a cell phone to purchase and $5 a month to have it on our account. Seems like a no-brainer to me!

I tried to order through verizon and there was a 40$ activation fee. Did I do something wrong on the site? Or is this in fact going to be coming along with an activation fee. If anybody has ordered and NOT gotten a fee, could they please share the steps taken? (i personally chose the $349 option) Additionally, will the verizon version of this watch be availabe from any other vendors? I find it very annoying to purchase items that are not my phone through verizon, the site attempted to change my plan, and add an activation fee. Thanks!

You probably didn't, remember we are talking about Verizon here. U.S. biggest network and fleecer. Is a different device, so they want an activation fee.
