Samsung Galaxy S9 case render allegedly shows off some of the new flagship's looks

A render of a Samsung Galaxy S9 case from Ghostek just might give away enough information about the 2018 flagship model to make you start salivating. Unveiling the handset on the day before the MWC keynote takes place in Barcelona is a tradition for the Galaxy S that had to be broken this year. If Samsung returns to that tradition, a February 25th introduction could take place. But Sammy would love to get a quick jump on Apple and its other rivals by introducing the Samsung Galaxy S9 in January.

The render shows a major change to the positioning of the rear-facing fingerprint scanner, one of the few complaints that users had about the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8+ this year. Unable to place the biometric reader under the display for the 2017 models, Samsung put the scanner next to the rear-facing camera. That was not such a great decision because it meant that users blindly trying to find the fingerprint scanner on back would accidentally leave a fingerprint smear on the camera lens. For the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+, the fingerprint scanner is seemingly mounted underneath the vertically placed dual camera set up on the back of the unit. This way, those fumbling for the scanner won't find it so easy to leave marks over the camera lenses.

Yes, the Galaxy S9/S9+ appear to be the first phones in the Galaxy S series to feature a dual camera setup. And looking at the render, the 3.5mm earphone jack will remain a part of the Galaxy S flagship series for at least another year. According to one person close to the situation, the back of the phone peeking through the case looks just like the real thing.

We haven't even enjoyed our Thanksgiving feasts yet, and already we're looking forward to feasting on the Samsung Galaxy S9 and the Samsung Galaxy S9+.

So, no under-display fingerprint sensor in the S9...probably reserving for the Note 9.

That would be pretty cool but really who gives a crap if there’s one in there at this point. It’s like the face ID for my iPhone yeah I thought it was pretty cool at first but now it’s just a stupid way to open my phone and I don’t really think of it that much

That's what an unlock system should be - simple, works and you don't have to think about it. The single issue the S8 and Note 8 have is the stone cold, stupid placement of the FPS. Under screen would be worlds better.

I won't even consider the Galaxy S8 lineup this year for that very reason. FPS is something I use multiple times a day, every day, and I shouldn't need to contort to use it. Samsung fans here apologize for it and claim it only takes an extra second to use, but that's not the point. It should take next to no effort to learn and use your FPS. Samsung screwed it up this year and the rearrangement of the cameras and rear FPS on the S9 proves it.

Yeah I agree but if the quality of the rest of the phone is great and they improve on the locations of the fingerprint scanner and or another way than maybe it will the same none noticed way to get in. I am sure they will improve on the location if they are keeping the fingerprint scanner. I don’t think they should force it in there if they have not made sure it works and does not affect the screen.

Under screen finger print scan must be mature and as fast as the conventional FPS to be useful. Even though Note 9 will have it, we don't know if its able to replace the conventional FPS.

I found the FPS on the S8 to be fine since my index finger naturally rests on that same spot when I held the phone. It’s better than having it right smack in the middle

tight just the bottom 3rd of the screen having the sensors would work with this tech thats out already. but the BIGGEST galaxy problem is the no front speakers or loudness also would be nice to have 8 gb ram and allow sd card as internal, that would stop the phone or card from being stolen

I never use the fingerprint sensor on my note 8 because it is so horribly located. I use the face recognition and when it doesnt work which maybe a couple times a day or when Im not in a position to aim it directly at my face, I just enter my passcode. Not a big deal.

It looks like they got rid of the bottom bezels. Looks good.

That would be cool but it most likely the case and how it fits over the phone

Yeah look at the S4/S5, S6/S7. Most likely the overall look of the phone won't change from the S8 design, just lesser details like the cameras and FPS location.

In the image, there's a bezel on the top, but nothing on the bottom. Yes this is a very thick and durable case but I'm willing to bet that they reduced the bottom bezels significantly. I guess we'll just have to wait and see!

Having a larger bezel at the top just makes the phone look top heavy and not symmetrical. The Pixel 2 XL suffers from the same unfortunate look.

I doubt that's true. The case probably just goes over the bottom chin. There's nothing there so it can be covered up unlike the forehead.

Then you will never be happy with a phone. Just the adventure of waiting on the next one and the anticipated results of all the guesswork. It is really exciting for me. But really if you want not to be board than I would suggest trying to root and jailbreak or whatever to get more excitement out of it.

Zero interest in the S9. Now, if the Note 9 has front facing stereo speakers and an in screen FPS, I'm in (assuming it keeps the high performance level of the Note 8)
