Samsung Galaxy S8 'Unpacked' announcement event liveblog

The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are right around the corner.

Samsung will hold its spring 'Unpacked' event today, on March 29th, and the new Galaxy S8 family will be the big focus of the event, but we also expect to hear news about a new Gear VR headset and an updated version of Samsung's 360° Gear 360 camera. And we will be liveblogging the event with all the juicy detail for all those who cannot tune in to the Samsung livestream for one reason or another.

The Galaxy S8 family is expected to be the first of a new kind of 'bezel-less' smartphones by Samsung, with an impressive full-screen Super AMOLED display that will be curved towards the sides. The new S8 is also said to be the first one to come with the Snapdragon 835 system chip, the latest and most powerful processor by Qualcomm, built on a more effective 10nm process that should maximize both performance and battery life. The new Bixby Assistant is also expected to make its debut. For this and all else, tune in to our live blog of the Samsung Galaxy S8 announcement. The event starts at:

It wouldn't be considered tiny if s**tsung didn't change the aspect ratio and the screen size

In a 5,1" phone it was huge. Apple only had 1900mAh in a 4,7" phone which nearly was as big as the S7 with 5,1".

Apple doesn't have a QHD screen and a power hungry OS.

to be fair the S7E was a very good device battery wise, however after the nougat update phonearena did a battery test and it actually dropped several hours usage which was a surprise, that being said, if they can fit a 4000mAh battery inside the A9 then they should be able to add it to these to beasts, im hoping refinements and better management have improved the usage times at least, fingers crossed

Tyrion is saying 3000mAh is small for an android phone. iPhones runs iOS. They can get away with a smaller battery while providing outstanding battery life. A 1900mAh battery on android would be lucky to reach 2.5h of SOT. On iOS, you can easily double that.

Whether you like it or not, material design guidelines are going to be followed until the next major style change (if ever possible).
