Samsung Galaxy S5: early benchmarks (Quadrant, AnTuTu, GFXBench, Basemark X)

So, what do you do with an ultra-powerful Android smartphone that suddenly falls in your hands? Quite simple - you run some performance benchmarks to see just how much of a speed demon it is. Well, you can imagine that is just what we did with the Samsung Galaxy S5 while we were innocently putting it through its paces at MWC 2014. We've run some of the most popular benchmark apps out there, including Quadrant, AnTuTu, GFXBench and Basemark X. Unsurprisingly, the Galaxy S5 acheived amazing scores - check out the video above to see the details.

Before you hit that play button and start enjoying the performance prowess of this handset, though, please keep in mind that this is just a prototype version of the Galaxy S5 we're using, so the retail version of the phone might easily score even better than this!

Ooh boy you people are so stupid, I'm not praising the design by any means, but stop talking carp about iPhone and HTC one is premium over the s5, if so try dropping your beloved iPhone and HTC one in dust are water and you will see the results..

benchmarks mean sh*t. it will still lag after few weeks of using it. wake up people. touchwizz with 2 gigs of ram is a fail.

In sure they'll have many alternative back covers for that awful looking back so I guess its not that bad If you think about it

They already demoed the designer back covers from Moschino and Nicholas Kirkwood (official Samsung partners) during the Unpacked event and at the show. They look like great replacements for the back covers if you don't like the look. http://www.androidcentral.com/pictures-official-samsung-galaxy-s5-and-gear-2-accessories

This phone is truly a beast. And like they said its only a prototype. Wont be getting this phone, most likely will upgrade to the Galaxy s6 or go back to the Note series, but who ever those get this phone will be more than happy.

This is not a prototype, it's a preproduction unit. Ray S should get his facts right.

Samsung is notorious for cheating on benchmarks. The only real test is real life usage. Did they trim the bloatware and streamline Touchwiz? Is there lag? The public will determine those things.

HTC, LG, and Asus also cheat on benchmarks, yet nobody seems to mind if they do it.
