Samsung Event live from New York City
We are following with uplifted interest Samsung's recent achievements in the smartphone industry. The world's number two cell phone manufacturer keeps the innovation going on hardware level, where it put into good use years of research, resulting in the Super AMOLED screen, and the blazing Hummingbird chipset

Today's Samsung event in New York city is expected to unveil the Galaxy Tab Froyo tablet for the US market, and its Media Hub store for renting and purchase of digital multimedia content. A similar event was staged by Samsung for the grand unveiling of its flagship Galaxy S US carrier versions. We were there for the first event, updating you with details and hands-on experience.

We are here today as well! You can follow the feed below for live coverage of the developments!

Live event tracker

18:56That is a wrap folks. We will take a look at the international version
18:54Content in the media hub will be available for rental as well.
18:53Carriers will be the ones to announce subsidized pricing.
18:52Sadly, they will only have the international version available here at the event. No spotting of the carrier devices.
18:51And you can't make calls with the Tab.
18:50Actually, all 4 versions will be 3G.
18:50Sprint's Tab is a 3G device; not 4G. Plus Qil video calling will only work on wi-fi.
18:45Sho down as they are not going to announce pricing and waiting for the carriers to say it.
18:45Finally someone is asking the obvious....what is pricing!?!
18:44Kim Titus is now back for a round of Q&A
18:43Samsung Media Hub will obviously be integrated with the new site.
18:41There is definitely a lot of time being spent on their new web site.
18:36He is basically talking about Samsung.com and the expected changes to happen with it.
18:34Ralph Santan is now on stage
18:31Now they are showing a clip on NBC's The Event.
18:30Michael Schreiber with NBC talking about content wth media hub
18:28Content for samsung's media hub wll be competitive to what's out there already. And you wll be able to share it with 5 devices.
18:25Gavin Kim is now going to talk about Samsung's MediaHub
18:24It'll provide for 7 hours of video playback
18:23Samusung's Social Hub & Daily Briefing will be included with the Tab
18:20Looks like the demo with Qik is a little bit choppy.
18:19Omar khan from samsung is now demoing Qik's vide calling feature.
18:182 cameras. Rear 3 megapixel with flash with 1.3megapixel front facing one.
18:18Google Mobile services will be onboard and how some applications are scaled to fit the display
18:171024 x 600 resolution and Android 2.2 from the onset.
18:16Kevin Lynch from Adobe was on stage demoing Flash support with the Tab.

18:02We're starting right now folks!
17:54We'll try and get some photos posted, but Twitter isn't being cooperative right now. We'll keep you all up-to-date though.
17:38We've taken our seats and waiting. Its extremely packed in here!
15:47Stay tuned: Samsung is expected to reveal US carrier versions of the Galaxy Tab later today!

Google themselves already told us that android 2.2 would not be recommended to run Tablets unless it comes with Android 3.0. Some places having a chance to play with Galaxy S Tab confirmed that some market apps are not downloadable and some are not even adjusted to Galaxy S Tab's scale, thus leading to a funny and not centered images. I wanted to own one of those tablet too but after reading more into it, I suggest you to wait a little longer like what I am going to do. I think eventually I might get a hTC tablet or something with Android 3.0 with Tegra 2 chipset. Plus these tablets don't have S. Amoled screens, which is a bummer!

3 megapixel camera in the rear? I guess it's not meant to replace anyone's digital SLR or decent point & shoot. Makes you wonder why they have a rear camera at all. The front-facing cam is all a tablet really needs.

No wonder it's reportedly much less pricey than the Euro model. No phone?!? This was the whole reason I wanted it, and was planning on being first in line for it, because it looked like it was going to be an all-in-one device. At this point, it's a huge fail in my book. DOA. I'm due to get contract pricing on a new Verizon model in 6 weeks. Now it's either going to be the Droid X or an HTC (Desire HD, or Merge, or whatever). BTW, my current phone is a Samsung. They lost me with this bright move. I've also been holding off getting an e-reader because of this. So I guess Sammie has also shoved me toward the Kindle. Why should I pay for two data plans, for a phone AND the Tab? And, even if I was willing to pay another data fee for a tablet, why would I go for a 7-incher? This thing is a flop already.
