Rumored leather back version of the Motorola Moto X makes the phone look like a football

Imagine this. You're playing a game of touch football with your friends, and you go back to pass. In your hand, you can feel the pigskin as you get a grip on it. At the last second, as the pocket collapses, you heave a long Hail Mary pass, the kind that Daryle Lamonica was famous for throwing (Google him!) to Fred Biletnikoff (Google him, too). And then it hits you. That wasn't a ball you threw, it was your Motorola Moto X!

A nightmare scenario to be sure, but one that could happen if a recent rumor pans out. According to a tipster, during the third week of this month when the NFL is gearing up for its Thanksgiving Day games, a special leather edition of the Motorola Moto X will be offered from the MotoMaker web site. The leather back will have the look and feel of a genuine NFL football. And to make it more authentic, the material is sourced from the Horween Leather Company, which is the exclusive supplier of the stuff to the NFL.

There is no word on carrier availability for this special edition of the Moto X, but leaked images show the device adorned with the Verizon name and logo on back. For the football fan on your holiday shopping list, this would be a sure touchdown.
