RIP, TouchWiz! Long live Samsung Experience

50comments

The end of an era is upon us - Samsung has finally phased out TouchWiz as the official moniker for its in-house Android skin. From now on this one will be known as Samsung Experience. This change was made official alongside the recent Nougat beta that rolled out to the Galaxy S7 recently - it arrives with Samsung Experience 8.

Truth be told, Samsung has not officially referred to its interface as TouchWiz for a long time, but if you tinker with your phone a bit you will quickly find out that the stock launcher on Sammy's phones is called "TouchWiz Home".

Interestingly, Grace UX also seems to be getting the boot and is quite unlikely to be featured on future Samsung devices. As a reminder, Grace UX was the UI present on the Galaxy Note 7, but it definitely looks like Sammy is trying to get rid of everything Note 7-related as soon as possible.

TouchWiz's first appearance was on the Samsung Galaxy S in 2010, and regardless of the name change, Samsung's interface will hopefully remain one of the more feature-rich Android spin-offs.
