R2-D2 poses for photo opportunity at Star Wars convention in Orlando

Whom better to pose with a poster for the upcoming special edition of the DROID 2 than the robot of the hour, R2-D2, whose likeness adorns this limited edition handset. At the Star Wars convention in Orlando, Verizon has been displaying the phone to Star Wars fans at the show, along with the giant poster that advertises the September 30th launch date (still no pricing information has been released). As we reported, the DROID 2 "Star Wars Empire Strikes Back Special Edition Phone" will be available only through online sales.

A Verizon photographer managed to get the famous droid to pose with the poster for the next soon to be famous DROID. If you take a good look at the picture, you will notice that R2-D2 is posing at the same angle as the phone. You might also notice a fairly large-sized QR code to the left of the image of the handset. While we have no idea what scanning the code will add to your DROID, we just hope that it doesn't take you over to the dark side.
