Back in October, Oppo announced the Android-based
R5 as the world’s thinnest handset (measuring 148.9 x 74.5 x 4.85 mm). Since then, Vivo introduced an even skinnier smartphone - the
X5 Max - but the R5 still remains an impressively slim device.
The Oppo R5 can now be preordered internationally - even in the US - for $499. If you want the smartphone, but don’t have that kind of money to spend, there’s another way to get it: Oppo is giving away six R5 handsets in a sweepstakes that’s open to anyone (of age 18 or older) around the world.
Dubbed “ScavengeR5”, the sweepstakes simply asks you to spot the R5 handsets that are hidden throughout Oppo’s international website (at the source link below). When you find a hidden R5, click on it, fill out your contact details, share it, and you’re done. Winners will be selected randomly from all eligible entries. The sweepstakes ends on December 30.
As our
Oppo R5 review concludes, the handset’s skinny construction comes with considerable disadvantages, including subpar battery life, an inadequate loudspeaker, and the lack of a standard 3.5mm audio jack. Even so, you probably wouldn’t mind winning an R5, so go check Oppo’s website if you want to enter the contest.
