Now it is Verizon's turn to toss in more monthly data for customers sharing the stuff
We've seen AT&T, and now Sprint, double the amount of data that new and existing customers share with members of their family, or co-workers. Now, the nation's largest carrier is getting involved by adding more data to its More Everything Plan. With this plan, subscribers get unlimited talk, unlimited text and 12GB to 50GB of data each month.

Starting tomorrow, Verizon customers using the More Everything Plan with 12GB to 50GB of monthly data, will receive some extra GB of the sweet stuff every month at no additional cost. Those with a 12GB data allowance will start receiving 15GB, and those with a 16GB monthly plan will receive 30GB of data. Verizon will double the data for shared data plans with a current data cap of 20GB to 50GB.

To take advantage of the extra monthly data, Verizon customers should contact the carrier starting tomorrow. Business customers are also included in the promotion. And Big Red customers have until the end of this month to sign up for the offer.

I don't understand..why most American network operators provide unlimited data?

They don't. Truly unlimited data is pretty rare these days. What most carriers call "unlimited" means "we won't charge you overage if you go over our soft cap, but you're going to get throttled". Those of us with "real-ish" unlimited plans can't use any of the new financing options to buy a new phone, or get a subsidized phone. If we do, we'll have to convert our plans to a metered one. Even then, all the carriers are now trying to institute a policy where if a truly unlimited user is on a crowded cell site, they'll get throttled before the metered customers do. The FCC is taking a long look at this policy though, because it's bulls**t plain and simple.

Speak for yourself, I have UNLIMITED DATA with Verizon and no "soft cap" or hard cap for me; my all time record was during my Aug 16th thru Sept 15th monthly cycle last year of 106GB (Yes One Hundred Six Gigabytes) for only $23.99 (after 20% discount) ..... truly LOL!

I hate to say this Papinyc but it is people like you that ruin it for the rest of us. I mean 106GB, really? Yes for you it is a great deal to stick with unlimited but that much data is truly excessive coming from a mobile device.

I've been trying to be better, I scale back from time-to-time because I really don't like to take advantage. And, I do genuinely feel badly for those who have to ration their data usage so as not to incur extra charges. Life isn't fair but, at least I saw the value of Unlimited Data Plan from the very beginning; I initially signed up for a "stand-alone" Unlimited Data for PDA Smartphone without voice plan when it was initially offered in late summer of 2005 - all my friends thought I was nuts (some still do)!! :)

no wonder verizon's service has gone down hill, is from people like you abusing the service and affecting quality for other users, great...

I have T-Mobile and use up to 16GB and have never been throttled. They do have two data plans the unlimited which after a GB throttles you and the Truly unlimited which gives you unlimited 4G LTE data. All people have to do is read the small print.

Depends on how many lines you have on your plan and how much data everyone uses. If it saves you money on your bill, I'd switch to the double the data promotion.

Just buy full retail, problem solved. I may skip the Note 4 as Samsung's Touchwiz is becoming more and more intrusive. Besides, screen size is remaining at 5.7" (blah). I ordered a One Max to replace my Note 3 - I know, I know: camera not great, no S-Pen, slightly slower processor than Note 3 but, that damn TouchWiz bugs the hell out of me. Besides, Groove IP sucks on the Note 3 (not so on the S4 I had for two weeks).

I am waiting for my 6 Plus to arrive to dump my Note 3 on VZW. I have had enough of 3G and No Service since KK update. As you said Touchwiz is becoming more and more intrusive.

Absolutely!! Congrats on that 6 Plus, I looked at it a week and a half ago; in two words: GOR GEOUS! Unfortunately, I can't use PDANet, Groove IP, tTorrent Pro or download much else and that really sucks, otherwise, I'd go ahead and get that 128GB. P.S. There is definitely a problem with the Note 3's network radio!

Be glad you don't have my luck. After one of the last updates for the Galaxy S3, the only way it can connect to anything is with WiFi. Voice and cellular data are gone, and there's a few post on the Verizon forums from other people with the same issue. It's essentially a WiFi media player at this point. Glad it was only my backup phone when this happened.

Hmm.. anyone know if you can mix Edge and Share everything? I have 2 lines that are not on contract, and 2 that are.. if I could put the 2 lines off contract on edge, that would save me some extra cash.

Edge is just a financing option. You can change to share everything/morr everything without problem and if you're on edge you receive a discount off your monthly line cost if you are on share everything plans.

So what about those who have only 4 or 6 or 8 gigs are they qualify for this offer or no? Can any one please tell me.

No, you have to have the 12gig plan or higher to get an increase of your monthly data allowance.
