Nokia 9 PureView launch brought forward, could now happen in January
Nokia 9 PureView render

After originally starting work on the smartphone towards the beginning of the year with the goal of releasing it this Autumn, it was revealed back in September that HMD Global had delayed the Nokia 9 PureView’s launch until February 2019 due to it not being “perfect.” But now it seems the company may have had a slight change of heart.

According to the source that originally revealed the delay, HMD Global, which is the company in charge of developing Nokia devices, has moved the unveiling forward to “an earlier date” due to the “media hype” surrounding the smartphone and, presumably, the response from fans of the brand. At the moment, the exact date of the announcement remains unclear. However, it was confirmed that it will still take place in 2019, which indicates that a January unveiling is now on the cards.

The Nokia 9 PureView is expected to avoid the notched display trend entirely by adopting a large 5.9-inch display that presents a more traditional 18:9 aspect ratio. This will be accompanied by an aluminum frame and a glass rear. Speaking of which, this will be home to a new penta-lens camera setup that also includes laser autofocus and a large LED flash.

Alongside these details, the flagship is set to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845. This could be coupled with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The battery capacity remains unknown at the moment and, despite its popularity among consumers, there won’t be a headphone jack.

Unless it arrives with s8150(aka 855), it won't survive the onslaught of the market, no matter how good the cameras are. 855 will bring significant performance and efficiency gains over 845 unlike last year where there wasn't a significant difference due to manufacturing process remaining the same at 10nm.

I believe that if it does come with SD845, HMD needs to price it at the OP6T price, or just above that at most. That would entice buyers to go for it if priced like that, which is well below the current high end flagships, especially if the camera tech is amazing. The SD845 is still a very capable SoC.

I agree. They waited too long to get it out the gate, and now it's probably too late for them especially if they stick with the older SD SoC.

Again, it's not like the SD845 isn't a more than adequate SoC. While it is a bit of a let down, if they price it right, it will sell well, and performance will still be good. Better to wait to get it right than to have a botched beta release like the new Pixels.

I kinda agree with you, bud. On the one hand it's wack if it comes out with the 845 on it. But on the other hand the 845 is still good. If they can put a low enough price tag on it, that could be a major selling point to use against other flagships if the rest of the phone is dope. It's not like there still won't be phones coming out with the 845 anyway. But hey, isn't this all still speculative at this point?

That's true. It is speculative until officially announced. And yes, if it launches with the SD845, they will definitely have to price it lower to stave off some of the "last years processor" remarks that will undoubtedly come.

Well said. You're a much better voice of reason. You aren't trying to shove and force your opinion down someone's throat like some other people are trying to do.

Hey, aren’t you the same guy that said that me and mg are the same person not too long ago? Now I’m a voice of reason to you? Even though I’m agreeing with mg and what I said shows that I agree with him? So that makes him a voice of reason too. Seems to me that you’re only agreeing with me and making sly remarks to try and stir up trouble with mg. That’s wack! Keep me out of your troublemaking. He wasn’t forcing his opinion on anyone, but it sure seems like you’re doing a whole lot of forcing of your opinion on people in here and elsewhere.

LMAO thank you! It’s plain as day that he was making cheap potshot against me while changing the facts to suit his false narrative by erroneously saying I’m forcing my opinion on others, when that’s actually what he’s doing. Whenever an opinion is made that doesn’t coincide with his, the person is “forcing their opinion down others throats”. If you agree with him, then it’s just you “voicing your opinion, which you have a right to do”. But he’s going to deny all of it, instead of owning up to it, as usual. Lol, he’s also going to resort to saying that you and I are the same person again since you agree with me and pointed out how he attacked you before. Just watch how he switches up on you now since you made that comment.

It's so crazy that this guy acts this way. Like, who does this? What rational person acts like this? I have a feeling he's going to do just like you said He can say what he wants to me or about me, I don't care. He's already proven everything I've seen you and other people say about him from my first interaction with him until now.

It's crazy that he takes indirect potshots every time I make a comment, but don't let the facts get in the way of a false narrative.

LMAO! Now was I right or was I right? Simply because you agree with me, he feels that you are me, and that's ridiculous. He thinks because he has 9 banned accounts here and is now on his account #10 that everyone does what he does. He's even deflecting from the facts and imposing his false narrative.

Yeah mg, you were right. This guy has problems. He just wants to start a problem with anyone who agrees with you. Like a person isn’t supposed to agree with what another person if he doesn’t agree with it. That’s wack!

If I did, I must have had a compelling reason to have done so. I don't see why that wouldn't be true.

Well, you did say it and it isn’t true. It’s like mg said, you are just saying stuff like that because I agreed with him and said something that you don’t agree with. That’s wack. I’m not going to waste anymore time with you because like I said when we first interacted, you’re just not worth the effort. But you do need to go see a shrink or something for that off the wall psychosis that you have. People agree and disagree. That doesn’t mean that they are the same person if they agree. You just agreed with me earlier, so that means we are the same person, right? You agreed with leo, so that must mean that you are the same person. See how psychotic that sounds? Get help quick.

My thoughts exactly; Nokia should wait for the next gen chip for their flagship.

I agree. You're killing your chance before you even get out the door.

Really eager for this! I've been holding out on buying another high end flagship for this. If it has the SD845 that will be a bit of a let down, but it's still a more than capable SoC, and if this is priced below the current crop of high end flagships with great camera performance, it should do well.

I just wanna know what the five lenses do. Normal, ultrawide, telephoto, ?, and ?. Maybe one will be a depth information type lens.

Hope it is better than mate 20 pro in camera department. Otherwise Mate 20 pro will have my money.

I don't trust Huawei enough to consider the mate, but at least they aren't going overboard with the camera gimmick.

Mate 20 Pro will be hard to beat, as the P20 Pro already beat the Pixel 2XL, but if anyone can do it, I think HMD can with the Nokia 9 and that sure to be innovative 5 camera set up.

Stirring up trouble again I see. Maybe you should log into your latest account and agree with yourself.

Stop being ridiculous. You're clearly the one stirring up trouble here, as you just did by accusing someone of being me simply because they agree with me. All you're doing is proving my point about you.

I concur with many comments here. A few factors that Nokia will have to do properly on this one. If they're releasing with the 845, it will have to be priced significantly lower than majority of the flagships from 2018, especially since the S10 will be right behind it with the 855 on board. One thing that was mentioned above is "traditional aspect ratio of 18:9". By my count, 18:9 isn't a traditional aspect ratio. If Nokia is in fact going traditional, it would end up being 16:9, which is the traditional aspect ratio or older would be 4:3.
