New pictures of the HTC One M9+ provide the best look yet of the premium handset
The sharpest and clearest images yet of the HTC One M9+ have been revealed in a tweet from @upleaks, and they show the premium handset in greater detail than we've seen before. The button on the bottom front of the device splits the lower BoomSound speaker in half. It also looks more like a dedicated fingerprint scanner that one would swipe rather than a home button to be pressed.

The back of the device resembles the HTC One (M8) more than the new HTC One (M9) with a Duo camera set up. The 5.2-inch screen will carry a 1440 x 2560 resolution and we should see an octa-core MediaTek MT6795 CPU driving the phone. 3GB of RAM and 32GB of native storage are inside.

Despite the fact that this device is being unveiled in Beijing on April 8th, it would be hard to imagine that the One M9+ would be an 'Asia-only' model. Still, the HTC One M9+ units pictured in the slideshow are all branded with the China Mobile logo. Stay tuned as all will be revealed on Wednesday.

I want HTC to learn the concept of symmetry in phone designs, but not THAT way.

HTC, can you explain your logic in placing the home button between the speakers? Sorry to say but this looks like pure trash... Not even a case can save the appearance of this device. I was excited and almost held out on upgrading for this... Very glad I didn't.

Let's just all agree this phone looks like dog s**t compared to the king: Samsung GS6 Edge Samsung is literally the best Company in the world. If you don't agree, you can slap yourself pillow case filled with 50 knives.

i think the thing you see there is not home button..but just used for fingerprint scanner...it should have on screen nav buttons...

so they only use 66% of the body for the screen AND they have on-screen buttons? this is an expensive practical joke by htc.

With sense 7 you now have to option to hide the navigation buttons on the bottom, if you need them all you have to do is swipe up from the bottom.

They really need to take a page from Sony's book when it comes to speaker implementation

HTC Boomsound has chambers for low frequency resonance as well as to fit very large sized speakers. Think the massive one watt speakers on the back of the LG G3 placed into special chambers to provide stereo separation and great audio fidelity and actual bass (But I don't know the exact specs on the HTC One's speakers, just using the LG G3 to express my point). The Sony phone has the ability to pump decent volume with good midrange quality but no ability to pump out bass. To my knowledge, Sony focused more on waterproofing than making a phone with truly great audio. They tried to hit every nail on every head and did a bang-up job. Not to mention, the HTC One series have consistently had much, much, much better audio fidelity than Sony Devices especially when you plug in some good earphones. I don't get why HTC doesn't advertise this because the HTC One devices, hell even the higher end Desire handsets have some killer audio fidelity, the only phones with better audio being the Meizu devices.

I would have went with the slit designs for boomsound that has been seen in the recent desire line up but would have added a sharp angle to the sides to make it look more agressive and stylistic. The FFC would be placed in the middle for the sake of symmetry. That finger print scanner would be discretely put on the bottom bar but gave a very, very sublte angled variation like the boomsound speakers that wouldn't take away from the beauty of the design. Upon forcing myself to stare at the phone and face my disappointment, I don't think the phone is ugly. I just think it isn't very HTC like design language... It looks slapped together BUT NOT ugly (Thats the fan inside in denial LOL)

I guess HTC fingerprint sensor will show more quick fingerprint registration time and FAR/FRR efficiency than iPhone 6/6plus and Galaxy S6/S6 Edge. Hauwei, Oppo, HTC and Sony fingerprint sensor than iPhone and Galaxy S6 will show a superior efficiency.

Don't get why they didn't place the FPS in the bezel. Seems like there may have been enough room for it there.

BOOMsound, premuim, solid , sense 7,are enough for me to , those people talking about home buttom are samsung , apple fanboys, if you dnt like dnt buy it easy, im sure htc make really strong phones and pushed samsung and apple to care more about the design and premuim quality....

Wait a minute, they put gold accents on the gunmetal version!? That is by far the largest fail I have ever seen in my life!! It's should just be pure gunmetal, pure gold or pure silver. I can't stand gold!!!
