If you want the best ipad wait for WWDC they might announce the ipad pro with minimal bezels and face id. Besides these are for students to help them study and not just about specs and aesthetics.

I wouldn't say it is. I love working on my Galaxy Tab A 10.1 with S Pen and I don't think its display is laminated. It works way better than writing with the Surface 3. This is due to the way the OS handles handwriting as well, not just how pumped up the hardware is. I've written on the iPad Pro and handwriting experience feels just as great except I don't like the weight distribution of Apple Pencil, too heavy at the top. Maybe writing on iPad Pro feels better, but I can't see a big difference. We switched devices sometimes and our handwriting stayed the se no mayter which device we were on, between those 2 only. On my Surface 3 it's horrible for taking notes quickly and neatly, and I've played with all the Windows options at Best Buy and they were all the same. Their hardware are definitely better and more pimped but oh well...

Yeah I do have Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 ed. and it's really good for handwriting, not really for sketching (it is not laminated as well). My iPad Pro on the other hand is really good for sketching, but really really really bad for taking notes because of poor egonomics. I just hoped in 2018, we don't have to deal with this type of crap.

Why did Apple need a full announcement to update the iPad 2017 to the A10 with Apple Pen. *Just shaking head...

Apple is clever. Using Ali recycled components and create a new product. Folks still go crazy.
