New Motorola Moto X+1 to have 25 backplate options (leather and wood included)

New Motorola Moto X+1 to have 25 backplate options (leather and wood included)
Back in February, Motorola hinted at a successor to its Moto X smartphone, which should be introduced in “late summer.” Well, it looks like this successor is called Moto X+1.

We first heard about this name last week, and now @evleaks shared new info about it. Specifically, it appears that the Moto X+1 will come with a large variety of backplate options: no less than 25 of them. Some will be made out of wood (Teak, Bamboo, Rosewood, Ebony), and some will put leather on the back of the handset (in Black, Red, Grey, or Blue). Plastic back plates will include warm colors (Red, Orange, Lemon Lime, Violet, Crimson, Raspberry, Cabernet), neutral hues (Slate, Purple, Smoke, Black, Chalk), and, of course, also cool colors (Navy, Turquoise, Olive, Royal Blue and Dark Teal).

There is still no word on what features the upcoming Moto X+1 will bring, and neither if the smartphone is going to be expensive, like most flagship handsets, or more on the affordable side (like the original Moto X - pictured above).

Earlier

this year, Google agreed to sell Motorola to Lenovo. The deal hasn’t been closed yet, but that should happen soon. Lenovo will probably help Motorola launch its new smartphones in more markets around the world (as you may know, the Moto X didn’t see a global rollout).

Is anyone expecting great things from this alleged Moto X+1?

I sure hope Lenovo don't push their skin into Motorola's phones. Please let it stay the way it is now, beautiful and simple with a little bit of addons that enhance the user experience!

The lenovo skins all look like they were made at some hippies booth in an art fair.

They wont be puting lenovo skins on moto phones, since most of you are clueless, lenovo spokeman stated long time ago they bought moto to enter USA market, they will leave moto do as they want but Lenovo will only help them profit. They know puting lenovo logos and skins on moto phones will fail in USA market where Lenovo doesnt have a name like moto does.

I love how you speak for the corporations as if they think logically. Now, I do hope you are correct, but let's actually be honest here for a second. Neither one of us, or probably anyone on here know what they will end up doing. Or maybe I forgot that when a spokesman (not spokeman) says something that it must be 100% true. Want some Kool-Aid? It's yummy. Spouting off your hopes and assumptions as fact make you clueless.

I would buy it if google still owned Motorola. Google could have achieved wonders with Motorola but they chose to sell it off.

Yes cause Lenovo will do crap with it. They took thinkpad that was failing hard and made it one of the best laptops to own right now. Lenovo will do much better job than google did since Lenovo will make them sell and profit and not just hold them for their patents.

Lenovo is one of the greatest tech companies. They have huge amount of potential to grow in the mobile market as they did in the PC market.

I don't know enough about them to get excited. though the general public opinion of them is positive. Still, I would have liked for Google to put effort into Motorola to ensure their success. Oh well.

I doubt thats in their future plans, to make motorola profit again and do well it has to move all its production to cheap production lines of Asia and Latin America. Thats the reallity..

We're talking about a customizable phone, and that's going to matter heavily. They can't just mass-produce this phone and ship them to warehouses in the States. At least some of the process will have to be done in the USA, otherwise shipping delays would get nasty.

Lenovo would be one of few companies who would consider that. My guess is they'll have 2 facilities, one in the US for handling North America and maybe South America, and one in China to handle the rest of the world. Lenovo is one of the companies who sees the value of bringing assembly to the US. Infact I think something similar to what I described will be done by Apple in the not too distant future.

In fact, as of right now, the Moto X that is sold here in Mexico comes from China and there are only black and white versions, with the latter being a bit hard to find.

Aluminum or carbon fiber backings would sell me in an instant if all of the good things about the Moto X carry over.

I'm giving my Moto X to my step daughter and getting the X+1... Assuming it stays true to what made the Moto X so unique and further expands on that. I suspect that Motorola will also style the X+1 similar to how the Moto 360 looks, and will start selling them around the same time, using each device to promote/push sales of the other.

You can be sure that Motorola will increase the specs for the next model. That being said, I think you don’t understand what Motorola is doing with its Moto series. They’re deliberately releasing phones without the highest performing most recently released hardware. They’re releasing energy efficient, long lasting phones with custom designed chips that provide a silky smooth user experience, at costs that are considerably more affordable than flagship phones from the likes of LG, HTC, and Samsung. I promise you that the user experience on the Moto X is just as good, if not better than flagship phones that were released this past year. The custom features of the Moto X are significantly more useful than any other phone on the market, including the recently released Galaxy S5. In addition to this, they’re also beating all other OEMs excluding Nexus devices in regards to OS updates.
