New Microsoft Lumia 950 XL render reveals the phone's dimensions

New Microsoft Lumia 950 XL render reveals the phone's dimensions
The unannounced Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL are definitely not among Microsoft's best kept secrets. We know a lot about both devices, thanks to various leaked images and details, and, if current rumors turn out to be accurate, the handsets should be officially unveiled in the first half of October.

Before Microsoft gets to confirm the two smartphones, we can now take another look at the Lumia 950 XL, which should be the largest among the new devices. Reportedly, what we're seeing below - video included - is an "original factory CAD" render of the 950 XL, so this is what the handset should look like when it hits the market.

Allegedly, the Lumia 950 XL measures 151.9 x 78.4 x 7.8 mm (or 9.9 mm at its thickest point - the camera bump), and seemingly sport a 5.7-inch display with 1440 x 2560 pixels (Quad HD).

Expected to be powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor, the Microsoft Lumia 950 XL should further offer a 20 MP PureView rear camera, a 5 MP front-facing camera, 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of expandable storage space, and a 3300 mAh battery with built-in wireless charging support.

Both the Lumia 950 XL and Lumia 950 will certainly run Windows 10 Mobile at launch, though for now we don't know exactly when they're going to be available to purchase. Are you interested in getting any of the two new Microsoft Lumias?

wish they used the metal instead of "polycarbonate " as the metal renders were more premium looking wch would have further promoted the W.10 ....

Hey PA, these dimensions are either wrong OR for 950 only. Cant be for 950XL. Bcoz according to my calculation 5.7inch is equal to 144.78mm. Which leave 3.56mm top and 3.56 bottom and it is not possible to have such a small bezel. Plz varify it, I hope I am wrong in my calculation.

Note 5 dimensions are: 153.2 x 76.1 so that's quite possible. And your indeed wrong that's just to big for 950.

but do you have seen big bezels of 950 in the photos or not? bezels are just too big. Do you know how much is 3.56mm? plz take a meter tape and kindly check it and then comment. These phones are Lumia devices, not sharp aquos crystal.

Yes I did made a mistake. Screen size is in diagonal and bezels are in horizontal and vertical. But still 151.9mm is possible with 78% screen to body ratio only. And seeing from photos it is not apparent.

Combined top/bottom bezel is 25.7mm split it into two u get 12.3 roughly.. Combined side bezel is 7.42mm now that can be split into two with confidence Cos sides will most likely be symmetrical so 3.71mm. Screen to body ratio comes to about 75.2%

Well these photos are render can't know it till the real lunch but I'm expecting a ~75% ratio. Even 930 got around 71% 1520 have even better one.

Cool. Can't wait to see more of Windows 10 mobile. By the way why's so less W10 mobile related news getting published in PA? It obviously would have been better than those stupid clickbait articles.

You just answered the question yourself, my friend. They're not clickbait articles, hence they get little attention from phonearena.

Maybe there's less w10 mobile news because there are no phones on the market yet running it. Right now everything is only speculation or rumours. Wait for the October Announcement and then there will be more articles. If more oems decide to use their OS in the coming year then there will be even more articles.

i swapped my iphone 5s for lumia 930 to enjoy winows 10 preview builds, it looks cool, couple minor bugs as its not final build, it is fast as hell, and simple, plus i like live tiles, lots of info just when you unlock device. now i am running samsung edge, iphone still runs 750p i just cant understand how i could pay extra for that kind of screen, it is just a joke. so basically its worth trying this windows 10 device :)

I rly dislike Apple products, but I have to say the iPhoney 6 looks better than this Lumia =( it looks too generic

"It looks too generic" Exactly! That's why I say plastic isn't the reason and why I find the S5 to be premium enough for me than these lazy-fugly-plain iPhone 5c-like designs...

'afford?' LOL! I am a guy who once had Blackberry Porsche! Whatever, right now I have 5 high end devices from diff manufactureres! And yes the most ugliest is iPhone 6 Plus!

awwwww you mad? Its ok not every company can be successful in the mobile world, its life you have loosers (WP) then you have winners (Android,iOS). Cheer up sport, start saving up to afford a good phone.

"Losers". Sorry, i cant help myself. What's there to save for a cheap $900 phone? That's like 1/10th of the average joe's paycheck. You are acting like $900 is expensive.lol

Hmm, first you demand that this phone "better be $299", then you tell people to save up for a good phone? Considering you probably have no intention of buying this phone in the first place, I would say that your price suggestion is worse than useless -- it is outright biased and destructive. Do you somehow believe you are better by being part of the "winners"? I have no respect for people who cannot think critically for themselves and then turn around and be condescending to others for not joining the herd. That guy could be perfectly willing and able to spend more than an iPhone on a Lumia 950 XL because that's what he wants and he's comfortable in what he wants. Get that condescending BS out of here.

Penny just (A) slapped the taste out of Mr. Jeter's disrespectful mouth and (B) summed up every tech enthusiast opinion on people who put their self worth on a company/OS/preference, both on the same post. It was so nice to b just a small part of applauding her efforts. Never change, Penny... never change.

Snow, I'm a guy. I'm sure we've gone through this before, but I don't blame you for not remembering. Penny is short for Penny Hardaway, a former NBA player (fan of his here). I thank you for your support though. I hope I was not too incendiary, but I do feel like everybody needs to be called out for their flaws, or those flaws will forever remain.

This is likely the last stand for Windows Mobile phones. The price needs to be as close to cost as possible with a serious ad budget.

I will agree there. Even as a WP user, I have seen MS hit about 4 reset buttons trying to get mobile right. This is like Hollywood rebooting Spider-Man movies every 5 years or so. Sooner or later, you have to see something through or quit trying to pretend you intend to. Under Mr. Ballmer, the one thing MS was willing to do was stick with something they believed in until it worked. Under Mr. Nadella, that does not seem to be the case. Windows 10 mobile needs some 1st year success,

I get a similar impression of Nadella in comparison to Ballmer. I believe Nadella to be an incredibly smart strategist that will guide Microsoft toward financial success. However, I don't feel that he has the same passion for the product itself; rather, his focus seems to be all on the business. In particular, what worries me about his stance on WP is a statement he made about the new direction when he was eliminating a lot of models from the lineup. He said that they were making the flagship Lumias for the "fans of Windows 10", which really makes it seem like they have one foot out of the door. They're just continuing it because they MUST for the time being. Here's what I'm looking for during the Lumia 950/XL announcement to help me determine just how passionate Microsoft is about Windows 10 Mobile going forward: - How complete is the operating system? Have they added surprise features that we didn't see in the previews? Is it polished enough to at least be considered better than WP 8.1? - How good is that 20MP camera? Is exactly the same as in the 1520, same hardware but slightly tweaked, or brand new and improved? If it isn't demonstrably better here, I'll really have my answer about how much they care for the fans that have floated WP for the past few years. - What are their plans for porting Android/iOS apps, building the marketplace in general? Is everything almost ready to go and will everything work, or will the process just be full of caveats? Pretty long post, but yeah those are my thoughts. If I don't see passion in this release, my impression of Nadella will be solidified and I'll go over to somebody who does care about their product, like Apple.
