Motorola employees can give you "Friends with Moto" discount on the Motorola Moto X and Moto G

Know someone who works for Motorola Mobility? Now is the time to suck up to him or her. Just don't let the person know right away that you are aware of the "Friends with Moto" program that allows a Motorola employee to give out a coupon good for a $50 discount on the Motorola Moto X, which takes the price of the phone down to $349. Coupons are also available that take $40 off the 16GB Motorola Moto G and $30 off the 8GB Motorola Moto G. After taking the discounts into account, the prices for the latter two phones are $159 and $149 respectively.

So just how does this program work? Each Motorola employee is given a personal URL that they share with someone who wants a discount. On the website, the device buyer fills out a form which sends an email automatically to your new best friend from Motorola. The Motorola employee then takes the information and sends you back a promo code that you can use to get the discounted price. "Friends with Moto" is available for the Moto X and Moto G only, and only on phones ordered online from the Motorola website. Carrier branded models are not included.

So when your parents told you that it isn't what you know, it's who you know, they were 100% right. Just keep in mind that handing out the discount is completely left up to the discretion of your new best friend, that new pal of yours who works at Motorola.
