Moto Z2 image appears as the unveiling of Moto's next-generation premium line moves closer?

Over the last few weeks, we have passed along leaks purportedly showing the second-generation members of the Moto Z2 family including the Moto Z2 Force, and the Moto Z2 Play. Today, we get to show you what looks to be a much clearer image of the third phone in the series, the Moto Z2. This, of course, is the sequel to the extremely svelte Moto Z. We know that it is not the first generation model because of the fingerprint scanner's new shape. The biometric reader has gone from being a small square at the bottom of the phone's display, to having a more traditional lozenge shape.

All three handsets in the series will continue to support the Moto Mods modular accessories, which connect to compatible handsets thanks to the magnetic pins found on the back of each Moto Z and Moto Z2 model. As to when the Moto Z2 series might be unveiled, an image allegedly of the Moto Z2 Play shows the date on the clock widget as being June 8th. While not a perfect indicator, many times manufacturers will align the date showing on the phone with the date of the actual unveiling.

Last year, the Moto Z and Moto Z Force were unveiled in June and the Moto Z Play was introduced in August. This year, we could see all three models announced on the same day. We could be just three weeks away from hearing all about the next-generation of the top-shelf Moto handsets.

Honestly, the U 11 is a nice looking piece of hardware. Something I want to say in general: good smartphone design doesn't mean almost bezelless all around. Good smartphone design does include packing a good amount of display real estate in a package reasonably sized around it, but a device can be well designed in some ways even with a lot of bezel. Good design includes practical placement of exterior buttons and ports, while having enough room inside the device for all of its internal componentry and cables, along with a good size battery and speaker(s) for the size of the device, but at the same time not being too densely packed for what is being crammed in there (in order for heat to effectively dissipate/device safety). Good design means structural solidity and durability too. If this Motorola Moto Z2 manages to meet these criteria then it's indeed well designed. Now I, too, prefer the look of the GS8 any day of the week over this thing; but the truth is that just because the GS8 and the LG G6 are using the 2:1/2.06:1 aspect ratio to get rid of the "bezel", that doesn't make everything with a normal 16:9 display and normal size bezels "stuck in the past". These type of comments hating on the bezels that a smartphone has...I literally see them spammed on every comment section of just about every mid-top tier smartphone that comes out other than the GS8 and LG G6.

That's what they all seems as though the design people want to see is that of the GS8. Again, that cannot happen here, just given the dimensions of the device and how the internal components have to be arranged in order for things to be safe and practically and properly placed, given the physical space allotments.

A 2:1 screen will never happen. The physical dimensions of a device like this would be too short and too wide for a 2:1 display. Also, 2:1 displays are very impractical due to the lack of compatibility between standards and the fact that, when large enough, make the device's screen too tall. IMO the bezel size is fine; at least they are not iPhone big nor does it have a screen too tall to completely access (GS8+); y'all have been spoiled by the GS8's lol. The fps can't go on the side because the phone isn't thick enough and the front placement is to allow gsture support allowing you to not have to use on screen navigation keys.

I'll have the gs8 design anyday over this, moto design is still stuck in the past and unattractive.

I get that they want to go for the same overall size for the moto mods compatibility. However, that doesn't mean they have to keep the same ugly front design. Go for the 2:1 aspect ratio to trim down the chin and forehead bezels and place the fps on the side like Sony.
