Moto G6 and G6 Play coming in mid May according to a new retailer leak
Just a couple of days ago, we showed you leaked images and specs for the Moto G6, Moto G6 Play and Moto G6 Plus. Hungarian retailer Alza took down the images, but also claimed that the trio would be available for purchase on April 3rd, the date shown on the screen of renders showing off the G6 line. That might be when the phones are unveiled, but a fresh leak spotted today reveals that the phones might not ship until May.
U.S. electronics retailer Fry's apparently put up its online listings for the Moto G6 and the Moto G6 Play a little early by mistake. It has since removed the images, but not before we were able to gather some information about the two handsets. The 32GB/64GB Moto G6 will feature a 5.7-inch display with a 1080 x 2160 FHD+ resolution, which works out to an aspect ratio of 18:9. The phone will be powered by an octa-core CPU running at a clock speed of 1.8GHz and there will be a 128GB capacity microSD slot for additional storage. While there will be a dual camera setup on back, the front-facing selfie camera is a wide-angle sensor weighing in at 8MP. A 3000mAh battery keeps the lights on. A virtual helper named Moto Voice comes with natural language recognition and can be activated even with the screen off. There will be a face unlock feature on the G6.
According to the images posted (and since removed) by Fry's, the Moto G6 will be priced at $249.99 and will ship on May 10th. The Moto G6 Play costs $199.99 and will start shipping on May 17th.
While the Fry's leak didn't include the Moto G6 Plus, a separate leak from SlashLeaks reveals that the high-end version of the G6 will be equipped with a 5.93-inch display with a 1080 x 2160 FHD+ resolution (18:9 aspect ratio). The Snapdragon 630 SoC powers the handset featuring an octa-core CPU and the Adreno 508 GPU. There is a dual camera setup (12MP + 5MP) in back and a 16MP front-facing selfie snapper. Keeping the lights on is a 3200mAh battery and Android 8.0 is pre-installed.
