Mighty Apple iPhone brought down by Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX at Verizon says analyst
According to analyst Anil Doradia, the Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX, with its long lasting 3300mAh battery, is outselling the Apple iPhone at Verizon during the quarter ending this month. According to the analyst, this is the first quarter since the launch of the OG Apple iPhone, that the device was not the top selling model at any North American carrier where it was offered. The appeal of the Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX is its battery, which is the highest rated cell found as original equipment in any smartphone.

Doradia says that this is not the result of potential Apple iPhone buyers at Verizon holding off for the next model of the iconic device. After all, the Apple iPhone 4S remains the top selling smartphone at AT&T and Sprint. The analyst says that in the next few months, there will be the usual pullback in iPhone sales as potential buyers wait for the 6th generation model to be announced. He also notes that the Apple iPhone is up against tough competition from 4G LTE enabled models which is why he says that the new Apple iPhone, with its expected 4G LTE connectivity, will be a "catalyst" for Apple. As we recently mentioned, the next Apple iPhone could launch as soon as early September in an attempt to push sales into this fiscal year.

For those curious, behind the Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX and the Apple iPhone 4S at Verizon is the Samsung GALAXY Nexus.
