How to set location-based reminders on your iPhone or iPad

Albeit its intuitive straightforwardness and relative lack of features, one can't overlook the fact that iOS comes with a respectable host of pretty useful functionalities that aim to make your everyday life easier. However, some are buried deep inside the menus, while others are also hidden and not "in your face".

There's no denying that reminders usually serve a life-saving purpose in our daily lives, as there's nothing worse than missing an important deadline or forgetting about your appointment with the dentist (okay, the last one is probably not the perfect example). As a rule of thumb, when a user sets a reminder, they choose a date and time when the alarm will go off and remind them of the event in question.

But did you know that you can easily create reminders that will notify you when you arrive at or leave a given location? We bet some of you didn't know that. Well, there's such an option in iOS and you can easily make full use of it on your iPhone and iPad right now. Here's how to do this:

Can Siri do this like Cortana can? Serious question.

Can you be more specific? I can tell siri to remind me to buy something at specific stores or do something at specific locations (remind me to buy screws next time I'm at Home Depot) - basically what is explained above can be done using Siri. You can specify your work locatikon or home location or supermarket or coffee shop for Siri to know which location to give you a reminder. Same for time or timer based reminders (remind me to call Tom at 3 or in an hour). The only thing I cannot do that Cortana can isle minders based on who calls (remind me to ask tim to pick up screws when he calls). Siri cannot change some reminders, but can change events on the calendar that are location based as well
