Google event scheduled for October 24th is not for the Nexus 5

Google event scheduled for October 24th is not for the Nexus 5
Google has sent out invitations for an event scheduled for October 24th. While the first thing that comes to mind is a possible unveiling of the Google Nexus 5, there are no clues that would directly point to that handset being introduced at the event. The invitation shows the Google Play logo and says "Join us for a night out with Google Play. Music, movies games and a special performance by Capital Cities."

You might expect something more from the company that hid the design for the Nexus 5 inside the camera app for Android 4.3. On the other hand, perhaps this invitation is for a night out with Google Play and has nothing to do with the next Nexus handset or Android 4.4 KitKat at all! As it turns out, the latter analysis is 100% correct.

A published report on Friday cites a reliable source as saying that this event will not feature the introduction of any hardware at all. As it turns out, the event will be for educational purposes only. Well, that now leaves next Thursday wide open for you.

What about Eric Schmidt's keynote on 21st Oct?? "Conflict has persisted in all times and places. Today, we see that connectivity is changing how it manifests, for good and ill. On Monday, October 21, at the “Conflict in a Connected World” summit, Google’s Executive Chairman, Eric Schmidt, will participate in a live Hangout where he will explore the nexus between technology and conflict."

I really hope they don't announce a Nexus device at a charity slash world violence awareness conference....

Oh my god haha. This is crazy. Idk why Google doesn't love to publicize the Nexus devices. They could be much more popular if so. Wish they would announce the date a month or so before!

I may start a career in media and publicity for tech companies. Job security must be off the charts considering how often these companies make announcements.

I would join the NIGHT OUT if there's a nexus 5 giveaway plus a 5 dollar gift

Ok first we have the nexus 7 invite that didn't include anything about the nexus 7 then we have the name of the new android "which we thougt it's Key Lime Pie" and the design of the nexus 5 in the camera app and they have been teasing us with the photos....etc. I still have hope about it.

The Google Nexus 5 was leaked on the Play Store on Thursday, 10/17. 5 business days from that date would be Friday -> Monday -> Tuesday -> Wednesday -> Thursday (10/24). Am I looking too deep into it? haha

Who the F*>K is Alan F.? Put your f**king big boy pants on and give your full name to this article. Your assumption is baseless predicated off of the invitation header?!? Apple invite was almost identical in June as it is now here in October "we have more to show you". 95% of 10/22's Apple's announcement was on iLife, iWork, productivity then they showed a larger iPad mini. Google I/O is about software development and education not devices but 2 years running we've seen Nexus 7 and Nexus 7 FHD. Nexus 10 debut was in a late October 2012 but it was a footnote because Hurricane Sandy hit New Jersey and Google canceled the event scheduled. This is late October and historically Google announces their Google Experience devices 4 now 4 years running.

my favorite part of this article is where you say what time the event is happening.
