Gionee S9 and S9T both receive approval from Chinese regulatory agency

The Gionee S9 has been certified in China by that country's TENAA regulatory agency. According to the documentation, the phone sports a 5.5-inch display carrying a 1080 x 1920 resolution. The phone will be offered in two variants with a Gionee S9T featuring a chipset with a faster clock speed. The regular Gionee S9 comes with an octa-core 1.8GHz CPU. 4GB of RAM is inside along with 64GB of expandable native storage. For those seeking additional storage, there is a 128GB capacity microSD slot on board.

A dual-camera setup on back features 13MP and 5MP sensors. A 13MP camera in front handles selfies and video chats. The phone offers Dual SIM capabilities and is powered by a 3000mAh battery. The handset measures a svelte 7.4mm thin and is available in your favorite color, if your favorite color is Gold.

The Gionee S9T variant, which is the subject of a separate TENAA certification, features a slightly faster 2GHz clock speed (compared to the already mentioned 1.8GHz clock speed on the Gionee S9). It is offered in Black and Gold, and at 200 grams it weighs 33.5 grams more than the base model.

With the TENAA certification out of the way, we could see Gionee unveiling both models shortly.

I quote: "It is offered in Black and Gold, and at 200 grams it weighs 33.5 grams more than the base model." I don't know about you, but I prefer my phones to be heavier... I absolutely love how iPhone 4 feel in the hands...! Nice and solid... The 5 feels quite flimsy in comparison... (140 Grams vs. 112 Grams). My Lumia 430 is also quite heavy at @ 130 Grams and hence feels pretty nice and solid... For comparison, my S6 is 2 Grams lighter and has a 1.2" Bigger screen... And I honestly don't like the feel of it... Oh well, Kids these days now prefer lighter phones... Guess even a flower puts a cramp in their arms... Oh well, G'Day!

Yay Gionee! Everytime I hear about this companies phones I look forward to the BLU version that will eventually follow. But I'm pretty surprised because BLU already has some potent 5.5" 1080p phones that aren't exactly flying off the shelves. Whenever I hear of a new phone from them I hope it's larger than 5.5" and higher res than 1080p. Those specs are so ho-hum for Android phones. But it's always funny to think the iPhone retards all think those screen specs are cutting edge for them. I really wish BLU would just wise up and go full Nexus with their phones and make super cheap bone stock AOSP phones to cater to the unloved Nexus crowd. If they went unskinned stock Android and promised super fast updates for 2 years they'd gain quite a following.
